Ms Potato Chips's Picture
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RI Age and Occupation: 29, PhD Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy Assistant Engagement Date: January 1, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Narragansett Towers About Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
About Ms Potato Chips

Like Miss Pretzel, my preferred footwear is a pair of these:

I even rock my Chuck Taylors when I teach, paired with a blazer and dress pants. (Yeah, I’ve totally given up the illusion that I’m any sort of authority figure. Or the sneaks bring me one step closer towards that absent-minded, crazy-haired, ink-stained-missing-buttoned-leather-elbow-patched professor I’m so bent on becoming.)

Dare I say, the sneaker-with-dress-clothes combo is becoming increasingly popular? I’ve seen lots of inspiration photos of groomsmen in Chucks (jealous!) and the sneakers-with-nice-clothes is even in the pages of the ‘Crew!

But Chucks really wouldn’t go with my dress. Okay, so what about my groom? I always envisioned myself marrying some artsy-fartsy indie-music-listening guy who could rock a pair of Converse with a suit. But Mr. Potato Head is so not that guy. He rocks athletic sneakers and Magnum-PI-lookin’ loafers. The thought of him in beat-up Chucks is comical. I know. I love him anyway.

Soooo… on to the next best thing. Put the children in the Chucks! Yes! I’ve written about flower girl inspiration, but I’ve been remiss in mentioning our two young gentlemen, ages 11 and 7. Here’s Potato Head with one of our handsome Tator Tots:

Um, did I say two young men? I mean three! Mr. Potato Head’s other brother and his wife just gave birth to their first baby two days ago! Although the littlest tator tot won’t come down the aisle, he can certainly join in on the fun with a pair of these: Preppy Weird Ring Bearer Inspiration : wedding ring bearer 4998 70

Baby Chucks! Are you dying?? I love the idea of the little boys in suits and Chucks. We’re thinking apple green sneaks: bright, cheery, and a perfect pop of color. Bonus: they can wear them after the wedding!

Do you have ring bearers in your wedding? Are they wearing anything that suits your or your groom’s personality?

Ha I think it’s funny you wear the chuck’s when you teach. I should just do that. I try so hard to dress professional when I teach but everyone at the community college still mistakes me for a student. No matter what I do I just look too young to be an adjunct faculty member!

@amariem25: I wore heels for the first two years of teaching. Then I gave up. I look young, I’m 4′11…I’ve stopped fighting the fact!

Sweet…I’m a black-and-white-checkered Vans kind of girl. I wear them almost every day!

@Ms Potato Chips: Me Too! I wear my chucks in the work environment. I gave up too. I would always get asked if I am an intern- so I gave in and wore the shoes I love :-) Mr P and the guys are rocking chucks- but this makes me wish I had some little pretzels in the wedding :-(

I saw a bride for her last fitting. She was wearing a GORGEOUS Lazoro gown - dropped waist, tulle skirt, ultra-feminine. And then all the little seamstresses gathered around her to see her shoes that she’d be wearing with the dress. Guess what? They were black Converse! I thought that was the coolest thing ever!

I’m thinking the exact same thing! My niece and nephews already wear chucks regularly. But I think the girlies would want to wear cute dressy shoes as well. So maybe they can change into chucks after the intro. Check famous footwear I’ve gotten chucks for the kids less than $20!

SO CUTE! We’re probably going to do the same thing, but I’m hoping to talk my FI and his groomsmen into wearing them too!

My groom was actually the one who SUGGESTED himself and the groomsmen wearing chucks :) I’m all for it, I love the look. Has anyone found somewhere cheap to buy them?

I put my chucks on right after our first dance! They weren’t even new nice ones or color matched, just the filthy pair I wear everyday!
