Miss Pudding's Picture
Miss Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Miss Pudding

I have told you about my vision of having my bridesmaids wear long flowing dresses. I am still 100% behind this idea. However, I did have a bit of a wavering moment when Sister Pudding and her boyfriend came to visit a couple of weeks ago. We were enjoying lunch on a patio on Church Street in Burlington when we noticed a cute, short, navy blue dress in the window of a store across the street. Much to the dismay of my sister’s beau, we decided to drop in and try it on. They only had two dresses available, and even though the one on the floor was too small, the dress on the mannequin was in sister Pudding’s size! We had the sales girl take it out of the window, and my sister put it on.

Oh my gosh, how cute is that! It fit my sister so well and had so many cute folds and details (not really visible with this cell-phone-quality picture). And the too small dress? Just in FSIL Pudding’s size! Two perfect dresses that would fit my two perfect bridesmaids? How perfect! Perfect, that is, until we looked at the price tag. The dresses were by Shoshanna and cost $410.00 each! That is way too steep for my two student bridesmaids. I promised my sister that I would look the dresses up online, and see if I could find them for a better price. I did end up finding the dress on the Neiman Marcus website. Did I find a great deal on the dress? Umm… no. The dress was more expensive at the department store, costing $440.00. Apparently, at $410.00, the dress was a steal!

So, we moved on, but I still check the Neiman Marcus website from time to time to see if this adorable dress is on sale.

Did you find any fabulous BM dresses that were unfortunately out of their budget?

You should check out Ebay and see if they have anything. I’m sure if you found it there it would be a steal! :)

Check shopbop. They carry Shoshanna and sometimes it’s worth it.

It looks really cute on her, but that price tag is ridic! I bet you can find something cheaper and more fitting with your vision.

Just looked on the NM site and it’s now $264!

I’m not sure if that’s within budget, but it’s definitely a discount!

The link you provided currently shows the dress at $264.00. Such fickle pricing.

Have you checked Bluefly or Nordstroms?

I love that your sister is standing on her tip-toes in her flip flops in that picture :)

And the dress is beautiful, maybe with the discount it would work out? I am obsessed with Shoshanna, soooo pretty! It would definitely be a dress they could wear again!

@Miss Trail Mix: Sister Pudding likes to think that she is a super model. She poses for EVERY picture!

@Miss Trail Mix: I saw that too! Being a shorty I always “barbie toe” when I try dresses on- even in flip flops.

This dress is too darn cute- I love the (insert technical sewing term that Miss Pretzel doesn’t know) folds.

That is such a nice dress! I am on the hunt for navy blue BM dresses but this one is unfortunately out of my price range. It is UNBELIEVABLY hard to find a navy blue BM dress for under $200 that doesn’t LOOK like a BM dress!

Miss Pudding - Did you buy YOUR dress in the Burlington area? I have been looking at some websites for shops in the area and wondered your thoughts! Thanks!

@GwenMarieDC: Unfortunately not, I bought it in Canada. I’m sorry to say that the selection in the Toronto area was much, much greater. I will be looking into more bm dresses in this area…let me know if you discover any shopping gems!

No, sorry, no other suggestions. My old roommate lives in Burlington and I always stop by Monelle when I visit. Mostly window shopping with their prices, but they do usually have a KILLER sale between christmas and new years if you’re around that time of year!

The dress is super cute! I found a wonderful dress at a boutique in Cornell, NY that I was in love with, but it was $415. Which was about $300 more than I had hoped to ask my ladies to spend. I was bummed, but periodically I google search the designer to see if I can find it on ebay :) Maybe someday…

Those are too cute! Ideally all my girls would get J. Crew dresses, but I feel bad forcing them to spend that much on a dress I know they won’t wear. They’re not exactly cocktail party type girls! More of the beer and t-shirt crowd.

Thanks to all the ladies that understand my instictive need to “barbie toe” it (and of course Miss Pretzel for the term). i’m barely 5′4″ so the tip toe helps me visualize how the dress would look like with the massive heels I plan on buying for it :P

I LOVED this dress, not only did it look great, it felt like it was made for me! It’s almost a bad thing it’s on sale becuase it’s in the picture and could be a splurge item :S … but will it be worth it :) ??

@Kalasin: That makes a big, BIG difference!

Ladies, you are amazing! I just ordered two of these dresses, and will have Lil’ Sister Pudding and SIL Pudding model them for you when they come in! I really hope that they work out! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all of your help!
