Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!

Aisle Style

November 30th, 2009 @ 5:49 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

First off, let me apologize. I have been a bad, bad blogger. I attribute my lack of posts to the Thanksgiving craziness and a serious case of writer’s block! I has cookies… forgive me? Aisle Style : wedding ceremony decor Silly silly

Anywho, let’s get this train back on the tracks!

I always knew I was never an aisle runner type of girl. I’ve only ever seen aisle runners at very formal weddings, and while beautiful, I’m not a huge fan. What I did know was that I wanted an aisle covered, I mean, absolutely covered, in flower petals. Those flower petal aisle “carpets” just make me swoon! Let’s examine…

This one looks straight out of a fairytale, no?

I love love love these creamy colors!

Talk about fit for a princess! This brides obviously loves her some pink!

Uhm, wow. The aisle, the pomanders, the arch? I heart flowers.

Sigh, they’re so crisp and pretty! Considering our flower princess doesn’t have the capability to toss petals (no opposable thumbs), I figured walking down a whole carpet of already laid petals (thanks, DOC!) isn’t such a bad alternative, right? Now, what to do about lining the sides of the aisle…

What are you doing for your aisle? Petals, runner, au naturale? Do you also have a thumb-less (or otherwise encumbered) flower girl?

These are gourgeous…And I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing…the only question I keep having is:
Won’t the petals get all caught up in my dress when I walk down the aisle? Or am i just confused? :)

I want it all! lol :) I’m getting married in a church though so I’m not sure covering the aisle in flowers looks appropriate… but I love the idea of flowers everywhere!
I’m with you on the poms! love ‘em!

I have the first photo saved too!!! So, so in love with it, but we’re getting married in a church and I think they wouldn’t be happy with us if we did that.

Those are gorgeous pictures. I’m thinking of doing a custom monogrammed aisle runner with petals on each side of it. We’ll see what actually happens though.

I love this look too! But, was also concerned about flower petals in my dress & shoes. My fiance & I compromised with a carpet aisle runner, which we’ll also use in our home after the wedding!

I love the full petal aisle but not only is that ALOT OF PETALS I just imagine that there are gonna be a mess of petals everywhere after you walk down that aisle… though i do love that style but i think i am gonna do a thick lining of petals just on the side

I LOVE the petal covered aisles too! I’m actually doing a aisle runner covered with a ton of petals, all set up in advance. I just figured it will be easier to walk on grass in my 4″ heels if there’s a runner under the petals!

I wanted to do this, but it was SO out of our price range. It was more than I ever thought. But I totally LOVE the idea and wish I had done it. The first one is stunning!

@Miss Cola-agreed! It definitely seems like the runner will make it easier to walk down the aisle..I don’t want to fall! :-)

That’s my vision exactly! Craft shops have more budget friendly “petals”…but I’m also concerned about my dress sweeping everything away! (Or worse, all the attendants who go before me.) I suppose if I use silk flowers I could attach them to something and make my own runner…

So pretty! I’d love to do this, but I worry the petals would be blown away at our ceremony location… not to mention the venue would probably flip their lids!
