Mr. French Fries and I are in the midst of making an important wedding-related decision: where to celebrate and relax after the wedding is over! We’ve thrown around so. many. ideas. throughout the honeymoon planning process; here are a few locales that we considered:
We were all over the map, quite literally! I handed over the reins to Mr. French Fries for our honeymoon planning and left it up to him to come up with an idea. Once he came up with something, together we’d hash the pros and cons and make a final decision. This took a lot of pressure off of me and gave Mr. French Fries some quality Google time.

After a very smooth and organized rehearsal (thanks to our killer DOC Sharlene Griffith), we had all worked up quite an appetite. So, we shuttled off to unwind and kick off the festivities!
Our rehearsal dinner was at one of our favorite local fiestarants (I just invented that rad new word, thankyouverymuch), Casita Del Campo. I’d show you just how charming it is, but I’m somehow lacking any detail shots from this evening. So, just use your imaginations and stick with me!
The room was bright and cozy, filled with long tables, and a ceiling adorned with adorable lights. Earlier in the day my mom and sister dropped off a dozen or so of the vases I co-oped with my Bride$hare buddy with some grocery store flowers that were placed around the tables. It was a lively, vibrant atmosphere - very fitting for our celebration!
Say hi to daddy! Don’t you love the pink walls?

I’m having such a love affair with my dress, and these photos make me want to jump on into it again! When we last left off, the ladies and I were busy getting beautified together. Our hair appointments went off without a hitch and my DIY makeup was going just as smoothly. Meanwhile, my dress and shoes and our rings were off having a well-deserved photo shoot of their own!
Since I previously blogged about our wonderful photographer, let’s talk fauxtobooths. I am so excited to have one at our wedding! Cameras (especially photobooths) and I have always been BFF. What can I say? I’m a total ham. I already talked to our photographer about having one during the reception and she’s totally down for it—I mean, how many photos of people dancing during the reception does one need? Eeeeexactly! So, hive, I need your help. We’re totally on the fence as to which style we want our photobooth to be. Help?!

Fabric Backdrop- This is probably (okay, definitely) the cheapest and easiest route. Grab some fabric or a few curtains, hang them up, and voila! You have yourself a photobooth! Of course, being that this is the easiest route, it’s also not my favorite. Why can’t I just leave well enough alone? I’ll tell you why: it’s because I’m insane. Moving on…

Ms P Chips’ post about Bridols got me thinking about my own real life Bridol. This past September, Mr Pretzel and I attended the FABULOUS wedding of Pretzel Groomsman V and the beautiful W. This was our first wedding since getting engaged and we were like sponges. While enjoying the extremely touching and personal ceremony and reception, Mr P and I made a number of mental notes about the killer details and inspiration that surrounded us. Over dinner the other night, V and W gave me the green light to share some of their wedding details with the hive.

Recently, Mr. Pudding and I went for dinner and a movie with some of his friends. Because the Mr. and I are kind of senior citizens these days, we were worried that the 9:35 PM movie would put us to sleep. To prevent this from happening, we ordered some coffees to help keep up our energy. As always, I was practically done with mine before Mr. P had even begun drinking his. Mr. Pudding just started to explain that I have a very high heat tolerance in food and beverages (mostly due to the Polish obsession with drinking teas and eating soups), while he could devour ice cream at record speeds. His friend interrupted him and said, “Other than your height, do you two have anything in common?”
OK, guess how many of the same card Mr Trail Mix and I received at our engagement party? Three, you might say? Four, eyes opening a little wider? Five, in shocked disbelief? Nope, no, and negatory.
I am impressed to announce that we received the same engagement card from EIGHT different people. Yes, you read that correctly, eight. How funny is that? I think it’s time for Hallmark to step up their game in the e-card department, eh? I’m not going to post the card because I don’t want anyone to feel badly in case they’re reading this, but it’s a very sweet engagement card. That we have now read 8 times.
So the next time you run off to buy an engagement card for someone, maybe skip the Hallmark section and try one of these:
In light of some (very) modest recent “career successes” of sorts, I’ve been giving some—okay, obsessive—thought again as to whether or not I will change my name when Mr. Spaniel and I get married. I don’t have any major accomplishments under my current name (no articles published, no professional reputation), so that’s not entirely the issue, but to be honest, I am very torn.

I shouldn’t be, though. I never intended to change my last name. I was born with this name, I’m proud of it, and I see no reason why marriage should change that. Yeah, it might be difficult for people who are unfamiliar with it to pronounce when they see it written, and it’s been slaughtered in numerous ways, but it’s mine and it always has been.

Though we’ve been engaged for over sixteen months now, it feels like it happened just yesterday! I love telling our proposal story, and I can’t wait to share with you all, but first, a disclaimer.
Note: As I have mentioned a few times, the first two years of medical school were miserable with a capital M for me. I was just really out of my element (missing my awesome college friends, activities, and life in general). Even after Mr. Burger was accepted into my medical school and we were living in the same city again, I still wasn’t enjoying school, and I had an upcoming set of boards looming over me. In addition, our friends started getting engaged and married, which further distracted me from school and fueled my desire to take our relationship to the next level! We both agreed that we were ready for an engagement, but I wanted all of the details to be left up to him. For Burger, it was all about getting the ring just right AND preserving the element of surprise - which took, well, slightly longer than I expected - if you catch my drift!
OK, now that you’re all caught up, here goes!
I had just completed my first set of medical boards, and Mr. Burger decided to surprise me with a weekend trip to (where else!?) State College to enjoy our favorite foods and beverages (I told you - we LOVE it there). Of course - I won’t lie - I was very hopeful for a proposal.

After selecting our venue and setting up our custom wedding website (more on that later), the next most important thing was asking our wedding party if, well, they’d be in our wedding party!
For Mr. Cola it was an easy choice. His brother would be his best man, and his 3 best friends from high school and college would be his groomsmen. Done, easy as pie.
However, considering that most of my friends are guys, and I’d had to disown my best girlfriend last January (long story), I was at first not looking forward to picking my girls. Obviously my sister would be my MOH, there was no question about that, but I didn’t want to ask anyone to be a bridesmaid that I wasn’t that close with, and make someone feel obligated because they were asked. So I ended up picking bridesmaid H, who I’ve become friends with over the past 3 years (and who is now conveniently married to one of the groomsmen!), and bridesmaid A, who is my future sister in law.
So we’ll be having uneven numbers, with 4 on Mr. Cola’s side and 3 on mine. But it wasn’t a big deal to me, so I moved on to making the fun little “will you be in our wedding party” cards!

Remember the announcements I was going to send a few weeks after the wedding? Yeah… well… It was more like 7 weeks. I have an excuse for 4 of the weeks: I was waiting for pro-photos. But the other three weeks? I was just procrastinating.
Anyway, I finally got around to it. Since I’m suffering from the post-wedding lethargy (which makes us put everything wedding-related on the back burner and focus on stuff we’ve neglected during the wedding planning process), I kind of dumped all of my fabulous DIY ideas and instead had VistaPrint do it.
Our announcements cost $27.44 shipped, for 50 of them with standard envelopes. According to my ’order details’, I saved $20.01 with coupon codes and specials they were running. It was a pretty good deal (though I really only needed about 20 and now I have tons of leftovers!!). But as is often the case, there’s a reason VistaPrint is so cheap.
First off, I “splurged” and paid the extra $3 to have them print it on the fancy Linen paper. Now maybe it’s just me, but I really didn’t think the Linen finish was very good. The paper was not very thick (Michaels cardstock is thicker than that), and check this out: it shows lots of dust.

We were all ready. I was in my wedding dress and my girls were in their dresses with headbands :). We grabbed our bouquets, some balloons, and headed up a mountain. My mom came up with us. I always knew that I wanted pictures on top of a mountain but wasn’t sure we would be able to get them. On our drive up “the hill” we passed a gorgeous Christmas tree farm and all decided that we had to stop on the way back down the hill.
We started with a bridal shoot. I was so excited. The wind was blowing and the Italian silk was just flawless when the wind blew!
