Have you been shopping for non-wedding related clothing since becoming engaged? Do you find yourself gravitating toward items that you would normally never wear, but now are drawn to because of their “wedding-ness”? No? Just me?
I was in J.Crew, and of course I love all their wedding and non-wedding stuff, but I started picking up shirts with flowers, lace and jewels. Like this:

It’s kind of ironic to be without words in the blogging world, but that is truly what I experienced this morning when I checked my email (and subsequently read and re-read in disbelief)!
I am beyond honored and excited to bee a new addition to the hive – I only hope that you all will enjoy my wedding planning journey as much as I have!
I chose to be Miss Cheeseburger for obvious reasons – because cheeseburgers are plain delicious, and my guilty pleasure (one that I indulge in far too often)! It really is as simple as that!
So about us… we’re two twenty-something, Pennsylvania transplants, living in the wild world of medical school (sarcasm – it really isn’t at all wild)
in Baltimore. Still unsure of exactly what to be when we grow up, we are figuring it out together – one step at a time.

I’m a sucker for romantic comedies and I’m intrigued by this one.
Did you know there is an old wives’ tale which says that on February 29th, which of course, only happens on a leap year, a woman is “allowed” to propose to her boyfriend? I certainly didn’t! Ever wonder why society dictates (for the most part) that it is customary for the man to propose? I mean, it takes two people to decide they want to spend the rest of their lives together, doesn’t it? Though you won’t see me complaining, I mean, I got a ring out of it. If it were reversed, what would I propose with? A game console?

Envelope liners are an easy way to add a finishing touch to your save-the-dates or invitations. I admit that prior to making them, I had never really noticed envelope liners before. But now, whenever I open a letter with a lined envelope, it’s an added bonus.
If you make them from scratch, the process can be a bit tedious – make sure you have a good DVD on or some DVR’d shows!

For me, the most important aspect of wedding planning, after finding a venue and caterer, is selecting an officiant. This is particularly difficult for Mr. Spaniel and me because of our multicultural backgrounds, and MINE in particular.
So I was kvetching to my MOH that I wanted to have a “partially Jewish ceremony”, but there were five obstacles to finding a rabbi who could perform the ceremony: (1) I don’t really consider myself to be Jewish anymore (except culturally), (2) I am not joining anyone’s congregation, (3) Mr. Spaniel is not Jewish at all and will not consider conversion, and (4) we don’t plan to raise our children Jewish (um, except culturally… they will know their backgrounds, but we won’t be taking them to synagogue on the High Holidays or anything…), and (5) we’re getting married on a Saturday, and possibly before sun-down. I guess any rabbi who was willing to let the first four obstacles slide, though, would probably not be terribly concerned about the fifth! Wonderful helper that she is, my MOH offered to call on some of her connections (the rabbi who did her wedding, and people at the Jewish day school where she works) to see if she couldn’t find me some referrals anyway. I can’t even tell you how helpful it is to have a MOH who has already been married.
I know this would make my family happy.

Like several stylish bees before me, I am wearing colorful shoes for our wedding. Remember Mrs Joey’s beautiful yellow ones? I pretty much died when she posted about them and decided right then that I had to have yellow shoes for our wedding.
I’ll admit, I haven’t quite stumbled upon the perfect pair yet (not that I haven’t looked) but I’m kind of holding out until spring, when yellow is a more common color for shoes.
I did somehow (and believe me, given my severely limited computer and internet knowledge, the italics are very necessary for that ’somehow’) manage to make an inspiration board of what I might be looking for.
Warning: Serious shoe porn below….

Those who know me realize how important the dress is to me. I LOVE dresses, and I wear them a lot. I have had the opportunity to wear many a fancy dress, and I feel the most beautiful when I am wearing one. Suffice it to say, I was very intent on finding the perfect dress for our wedding. Having a two year engagement ensured that I had a lot of time to do my research, and I was very diligent about it. Here are some dress trends that I LOVE:
1. Mermaid Silhouettes
This one isn’t exactly a shocker, but I love the mermaid/trumpet style gown. Not only is this style sexy and classic all at the same time, but I think that it will accentuate my very particular set of curves.

The icon was originally intended to be a hamburger… but when Miss Cheeseburger requested the name “Cheeseburger”, how could we resist? After, all, what is a burger without melty, yummy cheese! So, with that, please help me welcome our newest bee to the hive!

Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Engagement Date: June 28, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception
About Me: I’m a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn’t ask for anything more!
Because of our K1 Visa, we need to be legally married within 3 months of me entering the country. We decided we wanted to do that as soon as possible so that we could move on to the next step of our Immigration Process AOS (Adjustment of Status).
The idea was to go to a courthouse with a few family members and sign all the papers, just like Miss Doxie did. But in our first week together, we decided to change our plans (we made lots of changes that week).
During one of our dinner talks with the Future in Laws, FMIL B came up with a really cool idea. Since we already decided earlier that a really close family friend was going to officiate our legal ceremony, our ceremony could take place pretty much anywhere. B asked, “Why don’t you guys get married at the beach?”
We were sold!!!
We planned it so everyone we wanted to be there could make it, and we set the date. But, we only had 7 days to plan our legal ceremony. It was going to be crazy, I could feel it!
The next day, Mr Poodle and I went down to the coast and drove around looking for the perfect place.

Mr. Poodle drove I snapped pictures.
But my mother is one heck of a designer. And since all the bridesmaid’s dresses that caught my eye were simple and sweet, I asked my mom what she thought about maybe, possibly making them! I would help, of course, but she’s seen enough of my failed projects to know that I’d be more of a bench warmer. She agreed that it would be more cost-effective for my bridesmaids and asked me to show her examples of what I like.
During our Let’s-Make-Dresses Phase, my mom considered various fabrics as I flipped through pattern books to get an idea of what’s out there.
This pattern immediately reminded me of Samantha Harris! She wore a gorgeous blue dress on Dancing with the Stars recently, and my sis-in-law thought it would make a pretty bridesmaid’s dress. I tried to imagine it in a soft, pink fabric, like Carrie Underwood’s dress:
Whew, as far as changing names goes, I’m grateful to just be changing a few cards and documents rather than changing one of these babies:
Claudia is one lucky lady I’d guess. Anyway.
I was absolutely dreading the whole process from start to finish. It seemed very mysterious and confusing and like it would be difficult.

So you know how we got engaged, but you don’t know when we had our first kiss. Listen up ladies, here it begins.
Mr. Fro Yo and I met over Memorial day weekend on a Friday night at a bar. Saturday I was supposed to go out on a date with someone else, but after my short interaction with Mr. Fro Yo, I knew that I was WAY more interested in where that was going then where the other date was potentially going. So I did a mean thing… I canceled on the other guy… at like 4 PM the night of our date. I know, I know. I didn’t know what to say, and I had no idea if I was even going to see Mr. Fro Yo again (although he did get my number), but I thought if I felt that interested after a couple hours of playing pool, it was worth it try.
So, the next night we did meet up again––at the same bar. We played some more pool, and with the same group of friends. Only this time, we were both more open about our interest in each other. After closing time, we decided to keep the party going and watch a movie together. For some reason we picked the 40 Year-Old Virgin.

So, you know when you’re out with your friends celebrating a birthday party, or a bachelorette party, or, um, the fact that it’s Tuesday and you’ve made it through the day? And inevitably, someone gets everyone together and takes a group shot of everyone enjoying themselves? And then, they flip the camera around to see how the picture turns out, and everyone agrees that it’s “awesome”! And thennnn, that person promises to email you a copy or post it on Facebook — but they kind of never do? And you maybe sort of want to nag them about posting it but you don’t want to seem pushy… so you wait a few weeks and they still don’t post it, and by then you figure that they probably have better things going on than posting a picture, so you kind of forget it (although secretly, in the back of your mind, you know that if it was you that was in charge of posting it, you would have done it by now)?
Yeah, I’ve been there, too. (Um, obviously.) I realize that sometimes it just takes effort to find the cord to connect your camera to your computer, upload and sort the pictures, take out the ones where someone’s eyes are closed/someone’s not looking/someone’s talking, and then send them around for everyone else to see. I get it. I understand that you’d rather be watching Gossip Girl than dealing with that mess.
Which is why for our wedding, we’ve gotten a Canditto. A Can-dit-whaaaaat?
… are MY wedding goodies! I spent the better part of today trolling garage sales, in search of anything I could use at our wedding. I already have 40 mason jars, to be used in various ways at the ceremony and reception. And today, I hit the MOTHER LODE. See for yourself…

(personal photo)
See!!! I got an awesome assortment of vases and bowls. I’ll probably use the vases with the mason jars to create RAD centerpieces. And the candy-dish type things will be used on our candy buffet.
