Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, next year on Black Friday (and probably Cyber Monday), please take away my credit card.

I blame my recent spending on the stock market, and not because the economy sucks, but rather because it was open. See, Mr. Fro Yo is the frugal one in this relationship, and he had to work on Black Friday because the stock market was actually open the day after Thanksgiving. I didn’t have my sounding board nearby to tell me to shut off the laptop. So, are you ready to see my purchases?

Let’s start with a gift for the wedding party. Pottery Barn was having a sale on monogrammed items (free monogramming!), and so I thought, “Hey, this will make a great gift for the guys!”

Only, Mr. Fro Yo didn’t think all his groomsmen would like it, so I just got it for a few of them.

And then, a friend of mine was recently engaged, so I thought I needed to do something to commemorate her engagement and her new (almost) last name, so I got her some personalized soap:

Oh, and some wedding decor? Why not these adorable Bubble Balls? Though I’m not entirely sure I know how I will use them. They were cheap and I figured they would look great around our house after the wedding, too:

And then best of all… I got my wedding ring!! I felt bad because I didn’t ask Mr. Fro Yo if it was OK that I was buying my ring without showing it to him, but I figured he would be SO proud of the amazing deal I got, that he wouldn’t even care that I bought it without asking. Usually this is a dangerous thought, but this time I was actually right! This ring was normally $800, and I got it for less than $200!! It was right within our budget AND the perfect ring!

So, did you go crazy on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, too? What were the best deals you found?

I think that is an excellent groomsmen gift! Mr Frenchie didn’t like all my groomsmen gift suggestions either, but I think his excuse had more to do with procrastination and ordering monogrammed stuff was something he’d have to do too far in advance ;-)

Wow, amazing deal on the ring!!! I think, then, even if the rest were impulse purchases, they were made worth it by that great deal. ;)

Wow! I’d say even if the ring was the only thing you bought, you’d still have done great! I worked black friday and on Monday, so there wasn’t much of a chance to give in to temptation!

Great ring, but I have to admit, I have no idea what I’d do with those bubbles.

i had the exact opposite day. i went out later that night and racked up a total of $30 in black friday receipts buying mundane things like jeans and red vines. lol all things i could have just as easily gotten on saturday [though the jeans WERE on sale!]

@Mrs. Moonbeam: I was inspired by Miss Trail Mix’s japaneses fishing floats, and they look a lot like those glass bubbles. I’d been searching ebay for some, and these were way cheaper. I could just put them on the table near candles and they would reflect the light. Just a thought though, they might just end up in our home.

I didn’t even think to look for my ring on Black Friday!!! I really should have though =[ It didn’t even cross my mind. Yours is gorgeous, and I really like the groomsmens’ gifts.

Wow, GREAT deal on the ring, congrats!!! The first thing I thought of when I saw those bubbles was that they reminded me of my japanese fishing bobbles, only they were prolly much cheaper! I’m sure you can find a way to incorporate them into wedding decor, they’re so pretty! If I think of anything, I’ll let ya know!

I found our rings on Black Friday too! Luckily it’s the jeweler’s anniversary sale through New Year’s Eve, so we still have some time.
