About Mrs. Nachos

When I bought my first dress that I ended up exchanging, I had bought all of my accessories that same day. Luckily, everything I picked out goes very well with my new dress, as well.

My necklace (it’s very sparkly in person)…

Flowers for my hair (I chose white ’cause the colored ones looked really fake) …

And my veil…

When we were shopping in the jewelry section, I was debating about what earrings to get. I didn’t want anything too overwhelming, and I have a weird thing about wearing both earrings and a necklace at the same time. For me, it’s usually one or the other. Mr. Nachos’ mom had disappeared around the corner for a minute, and came back presenting me with Mr. Nachos’ late grandmother’s gorgeous diamond studs that she just so happened to have with her! I thought it was the sweetest thing and so thoughtful of her, and it brought tears to my eyes.

Now, not only was I blessed to be getting married with the same ring that my grandmother was married with (my mom handed it down to me 8 years ago), I was doubly blessed to wear Mr. Nachos’ grandmother’s earrings. I had something from both sides of our families from 2 generations ago. So, my band is my something old and the earrings are my something borrowed, and I am so honored to be able to wear both on our wedding day.

Are you incorporating anything from your in-laws into your “something old” tradition?

What a nice touch, wearing jewelry from both grandparents! I wish I could do something similar but neither one has offered anything, ha!

How lovely that your future mother in law have you your fiance’s grandmother’s earrings!

My engagement ring and wedding band are my fiance’s maternal great-grandmother’s. They are 107 years old! My wedding band had his great-grandparents’ initials and 1903 wedding date engraved on it. I am a sucker for all things sentimental, so I’m super excited. I love that my ring is an antique and has family history to it. It meant so much to me when my fiance proposed to me with it and then showed me the matching band!

That’s so wonderful! I am actually praying no one offers me jewelry b/c I definitely don’t want to wear a necklace (they look weird on me - boobs are too big and I’m too short) and I’m very particular about what my earrings and bracelet look like. Not that they have to be expensive or anything, just very particular about the shape and size.

That is super sweet. Right now, I’m not doing the “something old” tradition. But, up until 2 months ago, I also wasn’t doing a veil - so things could change rapidly!

I’m the same when it comes to earrings and/or necklaces. That is so incredibly sweet! Your very lucky having all these people supporting your marriage! I love that necklace, btw.

Ms. Nachos-that is awesome! I have not been approached by my mom or my future MIL, but I would love to incorporate something from the past to wear.

I love the family jewelry. And the diamond studs won’t violate y our earrings and necklace policy as much as more dangly earrings, maybe?

Sounds like a great way of incorporating everything! I am borrowing a vintage necklace which belonged to my fiances great grand mother! His family is very excited for it to be worn in a wedding setting. So I have checked off the something old and something borrowed!

That sounds so sweet! Unfortunately my family is completely lacking in family heirlooms, so I am totally stuck on my something old and something borrowed (and my something blue is underwear). Oh well…

That’s so nice that you have the earrings as your “something old” to wear! :)

Aw that is awesome. I’d love to somehow incorporate one of Mr. KM’s mom’s brooches, cause she has some super fierce ones! But she probably wouldn’t go for that.

Such pretty accessories! And I think it’s just so great that you will get to represent both sides of your family with your jewelry too!
