Mrs. Cheeseburger's Picture
Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Engagement Date: June 28, 2008 Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

We will only be having a few children at our wedding (the bebes of our first cousins), but they are all little, which will be really fun!

While we will not be having a designated kiddie table (I’m sure their parents would love that), I definitely wanted the kids to have some special things to keep them occupied during church and maybe during the reception, too (if they’re still interested)! We also plan to offer a babysitter (my sister’s friends who attend PSU) in advance and see if any of the parents take us up on our offer.

I had initially pictured something low key, like a generic white paper bag filled with a coloring book and crayons. Then Cheeseburger Mom suggested drawstring sacks, and I was hooked! During one of my many Michaels trips, I spotted some of the exact bags she had suggested. They were only $1 each, and they had purple and green (not perfect matches, but still)! I grabbed some fillers both at Michaels and Walmart, and here’s what I have so far:

  • Eight bags (6 purple, 2 green)
  • Cute little puppy dog beanies for each bag (all different of course)
  • Boxes of crayons & coloring books or pads for all but the baby’s bag
  • A Golden Book for each (I think I got Little Mermaid for all the “older” girls, Disney’s Cars for our little boy and then some Sesame Street ones for the younger kids)
  • Princess pads for the older girls, sticker books for the younger kids
  • Funky sunglasses & a yo yo for the little boy, heart bracelets for the girls
  • The baby’s isn’t filled yet, but I’ll probably get a swaddling blanket and a bink

Goodies for the Kiddies : wedding favors Img 77602 Originally I had tubs of Play Doh to include in all of them as well, but Cheeseburger Mom reminded me that it gets stuck in carpets and that the church and hotel probably would hate us for that (see, that’s why she’s the Mom). I was thinking about personalizing them, but I’ll probably just add some quick name tags to them later. We’ll also be adding a juice box, some fishy crackers, and Cheerios for the little ones once we get closer to the date! Hopefully this will keep them happy and content. :)

Are you having kids at your wedding? How will you keep them entertained?

Very cute idea. We had a kids table. The big hits were the glow bracelts/necklaces, the goldfish crackers, and the bubbles.

I plan on making something similar for the kiddos who will be at my wedding, I have a few things I’ve gotten here and there, but I still need a container for it all - a drawstring bag looks like a great idea!

The kids will love these! I bought a bunch of coloring books for the kids at our wedding, and then totally forgot about them! I know they were in the boxes of wedding stuff that I sent with my bro and his gf, but I forgot to tell them what to do with them so they didn’t get put out. Oh well!

I love the drawstring bag idea. We are having a kids table for the eight kids coming to our wedding with a basket set up for them with handmade coloring books (filled with wedding and summer-themed pictures, word searches, and connect-the-dots), bubbles, and glow bracelets in our wedding colors.

Wow, those are AWESOME. I’m really torn on the idea of having kids at the wedding- they’re SO fun at the reception but since all my cousins’ kids are TERRIBLE and I want the ceremony video taped, I don’t know how to go about telling them “hey, we have a babysitter downstairs and you don’t have the option because your kids are bad”

those are great! i’m not planning on doing anything special for the kiddies at the moment but that could change since a lot of my friends are starting to pop out those babies lately!

Those are super cute! I did little tote bags for each of the kids, and hit up the dollar store to fill them. Suggestion on the Juice boxes - get something clear if you can: Capri Sun makes clear fruit punch, and I’m sure everyone would appreciate a clear liquid over purple or red, I know my moms did!

Very cute, the kids will love them! I got customized sand pails for the kids at my wedding (9 of them from ages 6 months-9 yrs). Each bucket had some little designs on it with their name. Depending on the age of the kids, they got coloring books, activity books, some snacks and crayons. For the babies I put in a teething ring that was ocean related (to go with our wedding) and some baby food and a little stuffed animals. The kids (and parents!) loved them!

We had crayons and coloring books for the kiddos. Good call on the play doh. I waited tables and one family let their kid go crazy, it was smooshed on the floor, the table, in the menu. I still hate those parents. They didn’t even tip well.

Those are adorable, I love the little drawstring bags, much more practical than white paper ones.

We’re gonna have 2 little ones at ours and I’ve been thinking about what to fill their welcome bags with. I may have to steal some ideas of yours!
