The holiday season has officially begun, and I am so, so, so thankful to be spending it with Mr. Dachshund this year. It’s our first Christmas together, and I can’t wait to mesh both of our traditions and to begin making our own!
In the past month or so since the Christmas decorations have been out in stores, (does it seem like it goes up earlier every year!?) I’ve been searching for a “First Christmas Together” ornament to commemorate the end of our long-distance. There were a lot of wedding cake ornaments, and while Mr. D and I are technically married, none of those felt right.
Finally, during a random Etsy browsing session today, I found the perfect ornaments! And, they’re made by a seller who is not a stranger to Weddingland: Paloma’s Nest.
I love all of them, but the bottom right is my favorite. Not only is it beautiful, but the symbolism is understated yet still meaningful. It’s definitely going to be a treasured keepsake in the Doxie household around Christmastime for years to come!
I’m glad that the search for the perfect first ornament had a happy ending; I can’t wait to get it and hang it on our tree!

The Dude and I have been celebrating Christmas each other since the first Christmas that we lived together, in 2006. Each year, we go shopping together and we each pick out a Xmas ornament, then we write the date on the back or bottom in permanent marker. It’s a really fun tradition, and if we ever have kids, it’s one they can get involved in with us!
these are lovely! i’m looking forward to being able to celebrate the holidays with my guy. i’ve been visiting him over christmas but i always flew out the day after christmas. we did get to spend new years together last year. that was fantastic.
Those are lovely! I like the one you chose. I wish my fiance and I had a tradition like this, but we’ve never had the space or time to get a tree (this is the third Christmas we’ll have lived together for, and the fifth we’ll celebrate together), and he’s a bit anti Christmas 
It was one of my favorite traditions I had with my ex, we’d give each other Christmas ornaments every year.

OMG! I love these! I LOVE the one that says “Our First Christmas”. I think I may have to order that for us. Thanks for posting…think I am about to run over there and buy myself one 
Those are so cute!
My husband and I got married in Jamaica this past April and we picked up a fish ornament while we were on our honeymoon. We had fun finding the perfect spot for it on our Christmas tree when we decorated a couple of days ago!

Last year was technically our first Christmas together. We were down about not being with the rest of our family and didn’t really celebrate. We were thinking of making this on our first real Christmas together. I’ve been looking around for a nice first ornament. Thanks for posting this!
I love Paloma’s Nest. We have a blown glass “bride and groom” ornament we got for our engagement — it makes me smile every time I look at it!
Love these!! I love all things Christmas! Our first Christmas together we painted clear glass ornaments with our names and the year! FI also gets me a personalized ornament each year!!

ohhh now i want to start a tradition like that! this year will be our first as a married couple!
My parent’s “first” Christmas ornament was a piece of ribbon tied around a cork. As a kid, I never really understood it, but without a doubt it was always the first ornament on our tree. The day after we got married, my dad handed me a similar champagne cork with a piece of ribbon around it - he had gotten the cork from the bottle of Dom that my husband and I drank during our toasts at the wedding. I know it will make me smile every year as we decorate the tree, and it’s something so special to have in common with my parents!

Those are beautiful! Your fave is my fave as well. We don’t have any touching traditions, unless you count lugging our fake Christmas tree out of storage and re-learning how to put it together every year
Those are really great! I love the one you picked! Even though we’ve been together for years, this will be the first time we’ve spent all Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together.
