So now that you’ve seen the ring and know that I laughed in his face, I thought I’d share our proposal story.
Let me first preface the story by saying that I’m not a big center-of-attention person. I love hosting parties for other people, but I get all awkward turtle when all the attention is on me. The mans knows this, so he wasn’t about to whip out a ring in the middle of an ice skating rink (although I do enjoy witnessing those proposals!).
I had just come home from a long, stressful day at work (don’t we all have those?), when coincidentally, the mans had the day off. As soon as I walked through the door, he started complaining about how tough his day was since there was nothing on TV or the internet, and he had a tough load of laundry. Just as I was thinking “The nerve of this guy!!”, I yanked open the coat closet to see this:
Yep, that’s the teddy bear he got for me three years ago, when we first started dating. In his chubby paw is a box holding the most awesome-est ring! I turned around, and there was Mr. Hamster with a big ol’ grin on his face.
Of course I said yes, after I (as you know) laughed in his face - and we celebrated by going to a tapas place where the mans had made reservations. Since we had just gotten engaged, they gave us free desserts! Wow - it *was* a perfect day!
Those are our free dessert faces.
Anyone else have an at-home proposal?
