Mrs. Sunbeam's Picture
Mrs. Sunbeam, San Francisco/Grove City, PA Age and Occupation: 26, Grad Student & Office Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Motion Designer Engagement Date: May 10, 2008 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Harbison Chapel & The Maple Lane Farm About Me: Mr. Sunbeam and I are high school sweethearts. We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!

Hometown Love: Beep Beep, Let's Take a Ride on the School Bus! : wedding pictures pro pics recap Img 13101

**

After our giddy first look, our “limo” showed up to drive us off to our next photo shoot location. We rented a school bus to go along with the fact that we were high school sweethearts and it arrived at the chapel to pick us up right on time. Sadly, the rain prevented me from decorating it with my little red tissue paper poms that I had spent so long making. Sigh. It was still a sweet ride, but you’d have had no idea there was any sort of wedding party inside. If you are worried about rain, make your poms out of yarn!

Of course, we had to take a few photos with the bus! But wait a minute. Do you see something odd about this picture? Are you wondering where my red shoes are? I had packed a pair of leather shoes in case the ground got too wet to risk my red satin ones! I was switching in and out of them all afternoon and my red shoes are still in excellent condition and ready for fancy affairs to come!

My lovely bridesmaids had a quick photo op of their own, and then we were off!

Mr. Sunbeam helped me in and out of the tiny bus door, and I was so thankful I wasn’t a poofy dress girl or I would have been in trouble!

Love the photos and love the bus!

P.S. Your hometown is not too far from where I live. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump over the OH/PA border.

I love it! What a great idea. Too bad you didn’t get to use the pompoms. My sister and her fiance went to school together - grade to high school, and she’s a teacher. I think she may be able to use the bus from her school, but how much did it cost to rent?

I love the school bus, I think we’re going to rent a big one to transport our guests to and from the wedding!

Why do you have to edit all your photos?

@Molly S: Good question. I’ve done some editing to them because that’s just what decided to do. We have photoshop and lightroom, so I’ll crop or adjust the colors, or sometimes take out an oddity in the photo if I prefer it that way! It’s pretty easy since our photographer didn’t use any crazy effects on the photos - and if you see any really crazy effects, like the really unsaturated photos in our first look - I did it, just because I liked it that way.

@MOHmama: Renting the bus was such a cost effective move for us! If I remember correctly it was $250, we extended our original rental time. We had the bus get us at 1 pm and it drove us all around and also picked us up from the reception around 11 pm.

That bus is so awesome. We’re going to have to rent a van for transportation back and forth between parking and the house, so maybe we’ll use a school bus! The parking is going to be at a school, so maybe it makes sense. :p

The bus is super cool, but, I must admit, I’m SUPER excited to see the photos you took in your school!!

I love the bouquet photo! What a great idea to use a short bus - I rode one in HS because my house was so far in the booon docks no other bus could get around the road or I would have to walk 1.5 miles to just the driveway!!
