I wanted to wait until my recaps to show you guys the gifts that we got for our wedding party. Some of them read Weddingbee, so I didn’t want any spoilers!
After everyone had their fill of BBQ, we made an announcement for everyone to gather under the carport (it was still raining) so we could dole out thank you gifts.
My girls got each got a little package like this.
Ever the re-user, I packaged two of the girls’ gifts in these kraft boxes that some of my Etsy purchases had come in. The third girl got a green gift box that I’d been saving for a while from a Bath & Body Works set I received as a gift. The green ribbon was also saved from old gift packaging–I just used some double-sided tape to fashion the bow shape.
When the girls opened their packages, here is what they found inside:
Hand-poured vanilla soy candles made from cups I bought at Goodwill. (Thank you for the idea, Mrs. Cookie!) I tried to fit a cup to each girls’ personality.
Also in the boxes were these black mini-birdcage veils, purchased from the Twigs & Honey shop on Etsy. I had already let my bridesmaids know that I’d be asking them to wear these: I didn’t want to spring it on them at the last minute! Of course, the black birdcages were inspired by Mrs. Avocado!
Finally, each girl got a fabric tote bag, handmade by the talented Kara of Kailo Chic. I picked out a different fabric for each girl, based on what I thought she would like.
For my MOH Deniz, a New Yorker with a classic sense of style, this black-and-white circle pattern.
Bridesmaid Kelli’s style has a bit of a boho flair, so I chose this hippie-chic bird pattern for her.
And for Bridesmaid Dani, who loves all things green, I picked out this two-toned floral print.
The Dude had a bit more difficulty coming up with gifts for his groomsmen, so I came to the rescue with some ideas.
For G-Man Cody, a bottle of Jameson whiskey.
G-Man Andrew, who’s way into music, was given strings and a slide for his guitar.
And Best Man Curtis got a really special gift: a spreadsheet custom made by the Dude himself! Do I have any idea what was on that spreadsheet? None whatsoever. But Curtis seemed to appreciate it.
Finally, all three of them got black skinny ties to wear the next day. I was a little embarrassed to force my style on these guys, but they all looked great in the ties. In fact, the Dude said they were making Reservoir Dogs jokes while they were getting ready.
We also wanted to get some special gifts for the people with supporting roles in our wedding. Our emcee, my Uncle Tommy, got a gift card to Golfsmith. Our readers got gift cards, too: J. Dawg got an iTunes card and Amanda got a Starbucks card. I put together some presents for the flower girls: little satin purses filled with stickers, flower-covered nail files, and Hello Kitty compact mirrors.
My mom and the Dude’s parents were given IOUs for wedding photo books.
After all the presents were handed out and everyone was feeling the love, it was time for the evening to come to an end. We had a big day ahead!
