About Mrs. Cheeseburger

The Monogram.

December 3rd, 2009 @ 2:11 pm by Mrs. Cheeseburger

So, I’m obviously no graphic designer. That’s Cheeseburger Brother. Anything I make is done in PowerPoint. Yeah, that’s right - I’m really high-tech. :)

I started thinking hard about “branding” our wedding. It sounds silly, but really, it’s the one day in our lives that we get to make things all about us (within reason ,of course). :) An easy way to make even little things reflect a little bit of “you” is by creating a monogram.

I had seen lots of gorgeous monograms all over the internet - I even searched for programs that designed them for you. I came up short. That’s when I began experimenting with different free fonts in PowerPoint, and I came up with something that I kind of liked:

The Monogram. : wedding diy stationery Monogra06

Actually, the longer I looked at it, the more and more I liked it. Even Burger liked it. I decided that I needed one in color too, and PowerPoint was happy to oblige:

Pretty simple, and yet the color really makes a big difference. You may remember this monogram from the water bottles that will be at the cocktail hour.

I decided to up the ante by adding our names and wedding date in a few different font combinations. I plan to use these designs on projects like the OOT boxes.

Are you using a monogram? Did you do it yourself or hire a pro?

Looks good to me! Monograms are one of those great things that you can have very little graphic design skill and still make look awesome. :)

We had a monogram (kissing starfish with our names, date, and location) that I designed myself, pretty much the same way, using free fonts and becoming veeerrrry familiar with MS paint. And honestly, those skills have actually come in pretty handy since the wedding.

Yours looks great!!! I love the border of little dots.

That looks cool! I made a ton of different styles in powerpoint. I haven’t had time to mess around and add cool borders yet

Love it! I went on Etsy.com and made a request for someone to do a custom wedding logo for me using one of my favorite Scottish symbols and mine and my fiance’s initials. It turned out great and it only cost me $10! It’s going on EVERYTHING! Ha!

I did the same thing as you and “branded” our wedding with the logo. I have access to photoshop for work so I used that and I have several variations - a circle, smae one with no outline and another that’s a rectangle. I’m using them all over - on coasters and napkins, matches, etc. So fun!
Yours is super cute!

Very nice! I wish we could do a monogram, but since I’m not really taking his last name (will hyphen), it just wouldn’t be the same!

@Miss Cola:

My “monogram” doesn’t have our initials like a traditional monogram, just our first names.

I’d do a monogram, but his first name is two names with a hyphen. It’d look weird with me just having an L with him getting JP. :p
