Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how long it has been since my last post! Time flies way too fast. Over the past few months, we’ve had some good news, and bad news, and back to good news again. We heard news that my dad, who was battling neck cancer during our engagement and was still receiving chemo treatments on the day of our wedding, has received the green light from the doctor that there was no longer any sign of cancer. Just a few weeks later however, he was informed that his colon cancer (that he battled 10 years ago) had come back. To make a long story short, there was more stress and worry, but after a five hour surgery, he is now back home and recovering. I swear, my dad must have nine lives. We truly had a lot to be thankful for this year.
Mr. Martini and I were sitting around talking about our wonderful marriage so far, and how fast the year has gone by since our wedding in March, and all the good and bad things that have happened to our family and friends, and the hilarious things that happened at our wedding… and I suddenly realized that I never completed my recaps. So here I am back again, with pictures!
Below are some pictures of our ceremony:

Our Pastor

My brother, a groomsman, escorting my grandmother.

Mr. Martini, escorting my FIL and MIL.

The best man, escorting my mother.

I chose to have my brother escort my grandmother and the best man escort my mother because I had two MOHs, and therefore two ladies walking up the aisle alone. Above is MOH Helen.

MOH Jessica

We didn’t really have a flower girl, so we opted to have both of Mr. Martini’s adorable nephews as ring boys. Joshua is four and proudly carried our rings to the altar. Lucas however - who is about two - stood at the door, took one look at the crowd staring back at him, and then turned around to leave the room.

Lucas had to be escorted down by my SIL, but they only made it about halfway through.

Mr. Martini, trying to coax his nephews down the aisle.

I love this picture of my dad hugging Mr. M!

When I saw this picture I had to laugh a little - My dad and I are so off-center! During the rehearsal, we realized that the petals were already laid out on the aisle, and didn’t want to mess anything up by stepping on it. So everyone walked around the aisle. But then during the real thing, my dad and I must have subconsciously veered toward the left instead of walking down the middle of the aisle. I remember thinking that I was too far to the side, but I was too nervous to try and fix it.

My 13-year old cousin sang “When You Say Nothing At All” as the special song during the honoring of our parents.

This part of the ceremony was so emotional; I still tear up thinking about it!

Married!
Our string quartet was absolutely amazing. Why? I asked them to play the Indiana Jones Soundtrack as our recessional song, and they learned it just for us. It is probably my favorite part of the ceremony. I’ve always had this strange obsession with Indiana Jones. I could go on and on about it, (including my devastation of the cancellation of the short lived TV show), and hearing the theme song still makes me giddy and reminds me of the first time I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. I thought it would be cool to walk into our “marital adventure” together with my Indiana. We had a friend place a fedora in the middle of the aisle just as the ceremony was ending, and Mr. Martini stopped walking to casually bend down to pick up the hat before continuing on. It was a last minute thing and a total surprise even to the wedding party, and I was really happy that I got to include one geeky thing for our wedding.
