This spring I was working on wedding-related tasks with my trusty old Sony Vaio. Sure, it was heavy… and pretty clunky/slow… and I always had to use it plugged in because the battery life on it completely sucked…and it practically set my lap on fire if I set it directly on my thighs for longer than 3 minutes at a time. But, hey…it was paid for, and it served its purpose really moderately not really all that well.
If you’re reading carefully, however, you’ll note that I said “was working”. Yes, it’s true. My Vaio has since died a relatively quick death. All I did was download one measly font from a potentially shady online source… and poof! My laptop would not turn on. It had the black screen of death, permanently. It was finished. Finito. And, really… I wasn’t in a huge hurry to give it resuscitation (other than for my photos and .mp3s). Why, you ask?
I had my eye on another laptop, you see. One that was shinier. More powerful. One not as susceptible to the pesky viruses that had claimed my Vaio’s life. And one that was so, so pretty. A MacBook Pro. I had been keeping an eye on them for over a year and a half, but couldn’t justify spending the money on one while my Vaio was still functional. But now! Now a whole new window of Apple-tunities was open!

So, I did what any other Type-A personality would do in this situation: I researched the ever living daylights out of my decision. I read every possible review and could practically recite MacBook stats in my sleep. And then, I waited. I don’t like paying full price for anything, and this was no exception. So, when I got word that Apple would be having a Black Friday sale, I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to purchase my coveted MacBook Pro. I pounced on it like a cheetah in the African savannah. Or…something like that.
I anxiously awaited its arrival all week (it seemed like it was in Shanghai, China for-ev-er) and it was finally delivered this past Friday. And it… is… awesome (they’re not even paying me to say that!). I’ve already played around a bit with options for our wedding slideshow, and have worked a bit on various invitation layouts, but I’d love to know: if you have a Mac, what programs/tips/cool things can you do to make your wedding planning even easier?
