About Mrs. Dew Drop

Last Minute Music Madness

December 8th, 2009 @ 3:38 pm by Mrs. Dew Drop

Now that I’ve shamelessly milked you for your music suggestions for our wedding video, I thought it was only fair that I returned the favor and posted the playlist and do-not-play list that Mr. DD and I used for our wedding.

This is when you start to realize just how big of a procrastinator I really am.

You see, although I started thinking about a playlist early on, it seemed kind of complicated.

I wanted to play music that would be familiar and danceable to our guests. But with a wide-ranging and multicultural guest list, I had no idea what that really meant. Well, okay, I figured I needed some Bollywood songs and some non-Bollywood songs (with emphasis on the non-Bollywood). But that hardly narrowed things down.

So I waited and thought about it occasionally and waited some more. I waited so long to write up the lists that they got emailed to our DJ approximately one hour before Mr. DD and I frantically drove off to our wedding rehearsal, frantically drove back home because we had forgotten to bring a print out of our ceremony, and then frantically drove off again. Yes, one hour. And, um, there might have been a last minute trip to drop off a check to the caterer in there somewhere, too.

Yeah, I really don’t recommend this strategy.

And, yes, what I’m really trying to say is don’t expect any rhyme or reason to these lists. I’m pretty sure rhyme and reason didn’t actually exist in my brain the day before I got married. And looking at the lists now, I can’t even figure out the why of all these songs. But, hey, on the other hand, our dance floor was full all night and a lot of people complimented the music.

All’s well that ends well, right??

And without further ado, here’s the list:

Awesome play (and do not play) list! There are some on that do not play list that make my little heart cringe just to think of having it played at our reception. Saving. Those. Now.

Um, I ‘m a HUGE wedding and everything procrastinator. For instance, I just booked and decided on our officiant… today. I still haven’t decided on bridesmaids dresses. The list goes on. :p

I LOVE your DNP list! haha.
And I’m totally appreciating the massive amounts of 80s new wave in your non-Bollywood playlist. Oh, and the David Bowie. And They Might Be Giants.
Alls well that ends well?

Noooo! “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is an AWESOME wedding song! But of course, everyone has their own taste :) We don’t really have a reason to play any Bollywood, but I kind of love it… maybe we’ll steal some of your picks!
