About Mrs. Cloud

Choppity Chop Chop Chop!

December 11th, 2009 @ 11:17 am by Mrs. Cloud

I have a lot of hair. That’s really all there is to it. It’s thick and large and in charge, causing me to constantly battle the poof with flat irons (love my Chi!) or a multitude of styling products. Because there is so much of it, when it gets long it can take in excess of an hour or two to blow-dry and style. I rarely let it grow too long before I go in for a chop to keep it at a more manageable length. But for the last year and a half I have been growing it out to wear it long and curled for the wedding. Now that the wedding has come and gone I am OVER IT! So, bright eyed and bushy tailed early this morning I walked into my local salon for the big post wedding chop.

The famous before picture (poor Mr. Cloud works nights right now and I made him wake up early to take this on his camera phone, as super-smart me forgot to charge the camera battery. So I apologize for the quality…):

Choppity Chop Chop Chop! : wedding hair 16 PWCbefore

Almost TWELVE inches later I feel like a new woman!

Choppity Chop Chop Chop! : wedding hair 23 PWCafter

I was so excited when my stylist (Meredith at Red Salon Organics in the fan in Richmond for anyone who is looking – she is amazing!) told me I had enough to donate! I had heard different things about Locks of Love and other places no longer accepting, but she recommended the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. They are not only still accepting donations, but their minimum is only 8 inches compared to the 10 or 12 other programs require. I will be sending my creepy looking ponytail of extra hair out in the mail this week. Its nice to think all my suffering through dealing with my ridiculously long and heavy hair will go to good use!

Are you growing your hair out for your wedding and planning on donating it later? Where are you considering donating it to?

Cute!!! I’m trying to grow out mine, so I’ll probably end up doing a PWC. I’ll be sick of long hair!!! I’d love to donate my hair! It’s great that you did!! :)

I love your new hair cut!! I live in Richmond too and I haven’t heard of that salon. i always go to Hair Theater. but next time I’ll check her out because I might just do the same thing!! I love donating my hair (usually to Locks of Love) and I’ve done it 3 times already!

Wowza, looks great! I love my chi too, btw…I don’t think I’m going to chop mine after the wedding but I will definitely be going back to my natural brown coloring instead of the blonde I am now…

Love your new do!

I too have a TON of thick long hair. I’ve been growing it out for the wedding as well. I’m chopping it into a pixie cut next summer and donating to the Pantene program. FI measured my ponytail the other day and it’s 13 INCHES!

That is so great!! I was married last year, and grew my hair out to have this awesome up-do, and I now decided enough!! I had my cousin, who is a stylist, cut off 10 1/2 inches!!! Big change, but SO worth it!! And I am donating my hair too!! :o)
