Having Ish-Shoes

December 13th, 2009 @ 3:15 pm by Mrs. Nachos

If you have 4 minutes of your life to waste that you’re OK with never getting back, this is the weirdest video that I was introduced to and found myself quoting on a regular basis a few years ago…

Now that you’re sufficiently weirded out but find yourself wanting to call someone “betch”, here’s my dilemma – I’m trying to figure out what kind of shoes to wear with my wedding dress. Anyone that knows me knows that I don’t wear heels over 3 inches pretty much ever. Not because I don’t like them; I actually love looking at pretty pairs of high heels as much as the next girl, but I just can’t walk in them and I’ve reluctantly accepted that fact.

So my dilemma is… do I look for a pair of 2-3 inch heels and pray that I find a comfy yet stylish pair? The problem is that shorter heels can sometimes look like little girl shoes and typically have that not-so-pretty thicker heel. Or, do I go the cute white flip-flop route?** (See my issue with flip-flops, below.) Ballet flats?

On one of the bridal message boards, someone suggested ballroom dancing heels. The first image that came to mind was not pretty – a practical nude colored shoe with a strap around the ankle and a rounded toe. Then I looked further and found out that there are actually some cute ballroom dancing shoes out there…

DSW has some cute bridal shoes that I’ll probably be trying on this weekend…

Then there’s always the comfy Isotoner wedding ballet flat slippers that aren’t the cutest, but I’d be SUPER comfy, which I’m all about (although even if no one sees them, it might bother me knowing that I was wearing slippers with my wedding dress)…

**Another option is the flip-flop, which Mr. Nachos will also be wearing. The only problem is that I have REALLY narrow feet and I’ve never in my life found a flip-flop that actually hugs my foot, so I end up with all the pressure between my toes, and inevitably, a big painful blister. I did a little research though, and found out that Cole Haan makes dress shoes and flip-flops with Nike Air technology, and they have a store in the mall I’m going to this weekend. I can’t wait to try these on (although they all come with a pretty hefty price tag)…

I wouldn’t mind going the ballet flat route, but I have yet to find cute ones for sale. I did find a pic on Google of some, but it was a personal picture and I would have no way of knowing where she got these cuties unless I email her, and I don’t want to look like a shoe stalker…

I’ll check back in after my day of shopping and let you all know what I find. Wish me luck!

I was going to say DON’T DO IT!! about the Cole Haans because I’ve found them to be the most atrociously painful shoe I’ve ever worn… but if your feet are that narrow, they might work for you. ;) They run SUPER narrow. Good luck!

The best flats are always at nordstrom’s if that’s the route you decide to go down. But white might be hard to find, but silver or another metallic are plentiful.

I hate that video, haha. Am I the only one? I think it’s because when it first came out a bunch of my friends were OBSESSED with it and watched it all the time.

I love the idea of ballet flats! They’re comfy and super cute!

I’m wearing pink ballet flats because they’re comfy (and because my FI and I are the same height), but I looove both those shoes from DSW!

I’m pretty sure the eyelet flats in that picture are from Target: http://www.target.com/Xhilaration-Sable-Eyelet-Ballerina-Flats/dp/B000IUZBX8. It says they’re currently out of stock, but I’d guess they’ll have them again in the spring!

Try http://www.shopheylady.com. I found these on weddingbee and love, love, love them! Also if you go with the ballroom shoes (something else I considered) you could always dress it up with a shoe clip

I have the Ceci Air Rose for my wedding!!! They are AMAZING! Comfortable and cute. And, Cole Haan had a 40% off sale on Cyber Monday! I loved the Cole Haan sling, but they were a bit tall for me.

I also love the pairs from DSW!

Just FYI, I wore those first ones from DSW in black in a wedding last month and they are really freaking comfortable for a heel. So if you like them…

Though I’m leaning towards flats myself, since FI isn’t much taller than me.

I wore the most comfy pair of flats that were also really pretty, and still had satin & bling - the Benjamin Adams Renee - http://www.myglassslipper.com/wedding-shoes/benjamin-adams/renee-4778. They’re pricy, so they were a last resort for me, but ultimately they were the best option out there.

There are also pics of me in them on my bio I am sure :) You’d be welcome to have my pair, but I highly doubt you’re a Size 11 lol.

No you don’t want ballroom dancing shoes. They are good for dancing in, but not good for walking in all day (like any heels are though). The heel is placed farther forward on the shoe and it would be bad for your back if you walked in them all day.

You could try looking at zappos.com or amazon.com for shoes if you don’t have any luck at DSW or payless. I found my dream pair of shoes on zappos but then actually bought them on amazon because they were cheaper there. And zappos has a pretty good return policy if you don’t like how the shoes fit or feel.
