It’s hard to believe that it has been a year and a half since I joined Weddingbee and started blogging about our celebration of family, friends, laughter and love. Throughout my journey, there were many ups and downs but it was all worth it in the end – I wouldn’t have traded our destination wedding adventure for anything in the world.
But now it’s time for me to move on, or rather, time to say au revoir. I’ve always liked that French saying. Rather than the harsh I’m-going-and-I’m-shutting-the-door-behind-me kind of “goodbye”, au revoir is more like: until we meet again. It suggests the delightful possibility you’ll see the other person again and though you don’t know when or how, oh won’t it be a lovely reunion when you do? So this is not to say I won’t be popping back in to say hello and share some new wedding goodness from time to time. It will just be much less frequent.
But before we part for a little while, there’s one last Polish wedding tradition that I’ve never seen personally but that I’ve read about* that I’d like to share with you. I think this is sort of an old-school tradition but I think it’s quite funny and besides, isn’t everything retro cool again?
The tradition is this:
A year after the wedding, some of the wedding guests get together and, on a wagon, come to the couple’s home. They go to whoop it up and celebrate their one year anniversary (because really, any excuse for a party is a good one) but there’s also one other thing on their agenda. You see, if they get there and it turns out the bride is not pregnant, they tease her mercilessly – all in the name of good fun, of course.
I thought of this a couple weeks ago when Mr Breezy and I celebrated our own one year anniversary. And I’m delighted to share with you that if any of our guests had showed up at our house to try this trick, they would have had to find their fun elsewhere.

I guess you could say, now that the wedding is behind us we’re just moving on to a different kind of adventure. {wink}
To all of you who have followed my posts, I truly hope that you found them useful as you plan your own weddings, destination or not, and if they weren’t useful, well, here’s hoping they were at least mildly entertaining. And a big thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who have left comments along the way – you’ll never know how much they meant to me.
So au revoir dear hive, and in the meantime, if you are interested in the new adventures of Mrs Breezy, please stop by and say hello at my personal blog: Good Finking!

xoxo
Kasia
