Mrs. Cheeseburger's Picture
Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Engagement Date: June 28, 2008 Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

We have not one, but TWO adorable flower girls! E will be 5 and G will be 2 1/2 on our big day.

G is the daughter of one of my cousins, and both he and his wife also went to Penn State! E is the daughter of another one of my cousins, and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding a few years back. It means so much to be able to involve family in our day as much as possible, and we are truly honored to have these little ones be our flower girls!

Dressing them has proven to be really fun so far. After talking with their moms, we all agreed that flower girl dresses, like the bridesmaid dresses, were not something we wanted to break the bank on. We had originally decided to shop in person at some local department stores around the holidays, but then E’s mom found some gorgeous (and reasonable!) dresses online at Gymboree!

The dresses are ivory silk dupioni and straight up adorable. For G, there were two options - a shorter, sleeved version and a longer, sleeveless version. In E’s size, the longer, sleeveless version is available. We ordered the dresses (available online only) in their sizes to try on, and then E gave my family a lovely fashion show at a recent get together. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there, but I heard she was totally adorable, and that the dress has been totally “spinning approved”. :) Two thumbs up!

G tried her options on as well, and it was decided that she too would wear the longer, sleeveless version. We also were able to get the girls ivory tights and hair accessories to match! I’ve also heard that they will be getting these incredibly adorable jackets, since it’s probably going to be pretty cold.

Even though the girls’ dresses come with ivory sashes, I ordered some satin sashes from Alfred Angelo in celadon (shown below on the pink dress), a color similar to the guys’ ties.

Once the sashes come in, we will try them on with the dresses and make the final call.

As a colored-shoe bride, I don’t see why I should have all the fun! After perusing my usual shoe hot spots (Zappos, Endless and Amazon) and coming up short in the ’cheap and cute’ little girl shoe departments, I checked out Target. Why didn’t I just head there first and save myself some time? Who knows! There were TONS of options that were more than half off the prices of those other shoe sites. Take a look at some of my favorites:

The sparkly pairs are just $12.99, and the last pair is only $14.99 - can you believe it!? I personally like the light pink glitter pair the best, but I think any of them will be great! We’re going to purchase these just after the holidays, to ensure they will fit our youngsters’ growing feet!

Where did you find your flower girl duds?

I LOOOOVE the sparkle shoes! My flower girl is a little old for some of the really cute apparel (she will be 10), so I love living vicariously through others with younger girls. I love those choices! I like the darker pink sparkly ones the best.

Thanks for the link to the jacket, it is perfect for my older flower girl! Especially since it is similar to the one I’ll be wearing.

OMG! So cute! I’ll have to check it out!
I’ve been looking all over, we have 3 Flower Girls who will be 1yr, 3yr & 6 at the time of the wedding. Finding a dress that comes in all 3 of those sizes and reasonably priced is proving to be difficult.

I think your flower girls are going to LOVE those shoes! My nieces have those and they pretty much want to wear them all the time. Wearing shorts? Why not dress it up with some sparkly shoes. :)

So cute! We got lucky and found dresses on sale at J. Crew. I’m pretty sure we found the shoes on Zappos.

The dresses are GREAT, plus hopefully reusable (Easter and such-maybe pass the older girl’s dress to the younger). The faux fur jackets are SO cute. Target does have great shoes for adults & kids-I almost bought my wedding shoes there, but they were out of stock. I like the very last pair, but I am very anti-glitter. :)
