A Winter Wedding Wonderland

December 15th, 2009 @ 5:34 pm by Mrs. Trail Mix

Sometimes I dream of a stark, magical winter wedding, where all the lights shine crystal clear and there is a flurry of snow falling. There is something so beautiful in my eyes of the contrast between the barren landscape with fancy dresses and shared love.

Take a look at this absolutely incredible winter wedding of a friend and colleague of mine and tell me afterwards if you feel the same way…

The bride is a musician and chose to do some portraits while playing her violin… I love how the jacket looks over her wedding dress…

Countless hours were spent making the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, all out of paper…

Absolutely gorgeous first look…

They’re all probably freezing but this picture is totally worth braving the cold for.

After dinner, the bride and groom did a costume change, donning a bright red dress for her and fedora for him so they could easily dance to the jazz and swing music they selected for the reception.

Are you dreaming of a winter wonderland wedding in upstate New York now, like I am? The simplicity, the way just a touch of color pops, the snow falling in the fields… Le dream…

it’s always nice to dream of a beautiful winter wedding. But then I remember how freezing cold it is here in MN and how a winter wedding wouldn’t be that nice. I mean, I was freezing to death walking to work this morning in a scarf, heavy jacket, isotoners, and a flappy earred hat. Could you imagine wearing a wedding dress in this weather? I couldn’t!

It is beautiful… but I’d be miserable. :) A warm summer wedding is my dream!

Very beautiful!! But I could never do it. I’d never be lucky enough for it to actually snow, so everything would just be cold and bare. And if it did snow, I can see no one being able to make it to the wedding…can you tell I look at the glass as half empty? LOL

We’re having a winter wedding–December 31st of next year. Of course, we’re in Seattle which means it will either be raining or be a snow-apocalypse (this city seriously doesn’t own enough snowplows). So we probably won’t have the lovely snowflakes, but we will have a low-lit evening ceremony and reception with lots of crystal sparkle.

I love the picture of the bride with her coat on! I want to do formal pictures outside, but am afraid of us all freezing. It was neat to see how bridal she looked, even with her coat on. Also, we’ll have to take our pictures really early in the day because it gets dark around 4:30 here this time of year!

What a beautiful wedding! I love the look of winter weddings too….if only I didn’t also imagine how cold I’d be in my strapless dress!

I really love the wedding in snow as I don’t get snow much since I was born. Really love love, I am seriously thinking about wearing this red wedding dress and get married in snow:

I think, coming from Maine, a winter wedding would be beautiful, but slightly hard to manage with some of the winter weather we get. The snow does look amazing though!

These are such beautiful pictures…and the paper bouquet is fabulous! Is it possible you can get any DIY info on how she made that?

I love her color choices for the groomsmen. It’s somewhat nontraditional for a winter wedding but it looks great!
