Dropping the F-Bomb

December 15th, 2009 @ 6:20 pm by Mrs. Penguin

I would be remiss if I didn’t share my own experience with one of our own Weddingbee PROs—the team at StillMotion!

One of my very best friends (the one we threw the citrus shower for) married this year. We were roommates in our sorority, then in Westwood, then in Santa Monica, and finally were the two of our small group of friends to move to the Bay Area. When she and her husband finally got engaged, our conversation went like this:

Robin: We’re engaged!

Pengy: Congratulations! Have you heard of StillMotion?

Much like anyone that stumbles upon StillMotion, after combing their blog, she had a hard time believing that any other wedding cinematography would ever be good enough for her wedding. I knew if I could get any of my friends to call in the superteam from Canada, it would be Robin. Heh. Heh. Heh. My evil plan worked, and she did indeed hire them, and I had the pleasure of meeting Patrick and his traveling team this weekend in Northern California and witnessing their genius in action. I tried to prepare my table-mates by letting them know that there is a distinct possibility that they might poop their pants after witnessing what they were about to witness. After they showcased the Same Day Edit of the wedding at the end of the night, the groom jumped out of his seat and yelled,

“THAT WAS F***ING AWESOME!”

Very VERY loudly. In front of his mother. But, indeed, it was f***ing awesome.

After the showing, the StillMotion team was immediately bum rushed by random wedding patrons who bowed down to their genius and I eventually took my turn to say hello and snap a pic with Patrick and Konrad. They are all gracious and oh-so-humble, and I severely regret not being able to hire them for our own wedding videography. Perhaps this calls for a do over? ;)

Oh, how I wish I had just gone into a leeeetle bit more debt to fly StillMotion out to California for our wedding. If I could turn back time…

I think if anybody DOESN’T love Still Motion’s work, then they are REALLY WEIRD! They are so great.

Holy curse words…that was AWESOME! I’m typing this with tears in my eyes because that was stunning, and wow, you better be her best friend forever for talking her into using Still Motion! I know one of my biggest wedding regrets is not doing everything in my power to have them at my wedding!

@KtobeC: Alas, she is not an internet kind of person but I can ask her if she would mind you shooting her an email? I know she wouldn’t mind at all but I should probably ask her first! Send me your email address to penguin at weddingbee dot com and I’ll get you in touch with her!

Unreal. Literally unreal. As in, I almost don’t believe that something like that can a) come together EVER and b) come together in the span of one day. I am officially adding whatever ridiculous amount of money it costs to hire Stillmotion into my wedding budget. And no, I am not engaged. They are that good. Clearly.

About how much more into debt would Still Motion cost me?!?!?

It’s probably one of those if you have to ask, you can’t afford them situations….

Haha, before I didn’t want a photographer and now I am like…. well, if I sold my car and didn’t eat out, ever again, I might be able to afford that.

I just watched this with Mr. S

Me–> crying like a girl
Him? “That was RI-DONKEY-KONG! Let’s go to the website.”

That is the most gorgeous wedding video in the whole wide world. Thanks for a new addiction, Peng.

That video is SOOOO incredible! I was moved by it the whole time. I would LOVE to have my day documented like that. After I watched it last night I stalked stillmotion’s website, watched more videos and found their pricing…. I just wish I had enough USD left in my budget to fly them in to PA :(

Ok wow. I keep trying to convince myself that a friend doing video will be good enough but then I see work like this and my whole budget and thought process goes right down the drain. And man, I need to stop reading this stuff before I go to work…must go reapply eye makeup.
