About Mrs. Cheeseburger

I have been reading wedding and photography blogs for a. very. long. time. Like, long before I was engaged. And at some point along the way, I decided to start saving ideas and inspiration (also long before I was engaged), so that is where a lot of my ideas come from. :)

I have had folders of photographic inspiration saved for what seems like years, and now I’m finally going to get to use some of it! I actually have a confession to make… while I love wedding day photography for so many reasons, I tend to love engagement pictures even more! I’m not sure why - maybe it’s because the couple just seems so much more real? I don’t know, but I think that’s why I’m so excited for these pictures!

Here are some of my favorite inspiration shots - some are more unique and some are more traditional, but all of them are wonderful!

#1: The iPhone Shot - yes, here Mr. & Mrs. Powder Puff are at their gorgeous wedding and holding up a Polaroid, but please just imagine if it was an engagement shoot and they were holding up an iPhone photograph of themselves? I’m in love with this idea. Don’t they look great?!

#2: The Laying Down Photo from Above Shot - love all of these. If the ground isn’t wet, I’d love to get some of these - maybe in some leaves? Or, I have a beautiful quilt that my grandmother hand stitched for me that I think would photograph beautifully.

Love me some Avocado photos :)

#3: The Gratuitous “Look at the Ring” Shot - I mean, really there’s not much to say here except these are pretty awesome pictures by Weddingbee PRO Anne Ruthmann showing off the bling!

#4: The Lovey-Dovey Black & White Close Up Shot: these shots from Weddingbee PRO Amelia Lyon are just gorrrrgeeeouuusss. I have an undying love for black and white photography because it’s amazing, timeless, and hey, everyone looks better in black and white :)

#5: The Playful Profile Shot: These are lots of fun and from an angle that’s just different enough to make things really interesting.

#6: Old Faithful - the Classic Engagement Shot - (with a twist) somehow, to me, even though this is a pretty traditional pose, straight on, both parties cheesing it up, this does not feel so Sears-portrait-studio-posed-engagement-photo to me. You know what I mean? It just feels relaxed and real. Like they just kind of fell into that position. Love it.

Ok! This is the last I will talk about engagement pictures until we have ours! I can’t wait to see how they turn out. :)

I’ve seen some great versions of the iPhone shot, I just didn’t save any!

For our shoot, I just told him I wanted to do as much awesome and b.a. stuff as we could without being arrested, stabbed, or chased by junkies. :p

We called our e-pictures the anti-engagement session…I just wanted it in a place that wasn’t typical and typical here is the beach, holding hands looking off into the future together. So we went to Compton and climbed down into a river bed in our nice clothes and tried to look tough. It was a lot of fun and I think everyone should do it…it’s nice to have pictures that don’t show my arm holding a camera out in front of the two of us :)

I would have loved to go with urbany, but I think if you go with a little bit of each, they will look amazing!
