Me Likey Me Wantey Bridal Virus

Hair flowers are quite popular lately with brides, and for good reason. They add a bit of extra romance, an accent, a little pizzazz. However, it’s not trendy in a way that will look dated. And did I want to jump on that wagon? With a running leap, yes. As almost every bride (and groom) knows, planning a wedding convinces you that you need many things that you had previously wanted with all your heart, but just didn’t know.

At first I considered a real flower because I figured it would be cheaper and I don’t need a hair flower after the wedding (I’m just not that fashionable). However, when it came to attaching a comb or pin or barrette or whatever-it-is-we’re-talking-about-here to a real flower, I was lost. And no, I did not overcome this by figuring out how to do this myself and doing a couple of trials. I just gave up.

So, enter Etsy (is it eet-sy or eh-tsy? discuss.), which is great if you either: (1) know exactly what you’re looking for and can type in enough keywords to narrow your search; or (2) you have nothing to do at work so you can sift through the hundreds of listings. I won’t tell you which one I am.

If you know anything about hair flowers you probably know the beautiful work of Twigs and Honey. And if you don’t, ta-da!

There are plenty of other sellers on Etsy who make hair flowers, like Mikiye:

Mrs. Martini rocked out a gorgeous gardenia at her wedding (I also love the hairdo—it’s pretty fabulous), that she got from SmittenXOXO on Etsy.

I really liked the gardenia, and have always loved gardenias because of their heavenly scent and creamy look.

So, what to get? What to choose? Anyone else donning a fleur de cabeza for their big day?

I am considering not having a veil and just having a really cute headpiece/flower. I just love the feel of it!

I love flowers, too! I’m hoping to wear one under my veil. It seems like it’s been a long time since I actually saw a bride who wore a live flower :P Think of the heavenly scent that a real gardenia would produce….yum!

I bought a custom made hairflower from etsy seller Yuzurose http://www.etsy.com/shop/YuzuRose . She was amazing to work with and was willing to do basically anything that I wanted. Here is a picture of what she made for me: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=17810440 . I love it - it’s so pretty and delicate! Good luck in your search for your flower :)

Martini’s is my favorite out of the ones you posted! Gardenias are gorgeous and their scent is SO intoxicating!

Oh, and I’m pretty sure it’s “eht-see”, i’ve never thought about it, but I’ve never heard it pronounced “eet-see”

Love love all of these options. I’ve got a flower with some feathers to wear in my hair. I love it so much that I kind of want to skip the veil altogether, except that it’s already been purchased haha.

Real flowers are easy! My hair person just pinned an orchid in my hair…no problem. It lasted through the night.

I’m a flower-hair-loving lady. I just stare at them for hours.

Gardenias smell SO good, but sometimes they brown REALLY quickly. I don’t know any remedies for that. :-/

My hair flowers look a lot like the first pic. I love them! I also really love the look of the one big flower, too.

I heart the second photo. That might have actually been a realistic option for me.

I love the look of a gardenia…so retro and gorgeous. I’m putting fresh orchids in mine..

I jumped head-over-heels onto the flower bandwagon. I am definitely NOT a veil kinda girl. And I have seen too many of my friends nearly get their hair yanked out by overzealous hugging guests in the receiving line…picture arm over neck, pulling veil, yanking hair, causing head to jerk back!

I actually just bought a really simple brown headband and wrapped two silk flowers (that I was using in other decor around the wedding) on the side of the headband. Easy breezy…for less than $5.

Pictured here on SMP.

After looking at some of those gardenia options, I, too, would fully support your not only jumping into but also taking the reins of the hair flower bandwagon. BUT only if the pugs each get one, too!

I’m going with (fake) flower and no veil! The veil really doesn’t feel like me, and less for the wind to take away in case it’s breezy on our wedding day! I never thought about the flower look before weddingbee, and now I can’t stop thinking about it!

I love the flower look! I’m debating between that and feathers. And rhinestoney things. Ah, decisions decisions.

I’m totally considering a hair flower for a bit more of a relaxed feel to the wedding as opposed to a veil. I love the first photo!

And I think it’s eh-tsy ;)

I’m going with a traditional veil for ceremony and then switching to flower for reception! My question is whether or not to do birdcage veil with the flower during reception, or straight flower. Such decisions! I’m also coveting the work of Twigs & Honey. :)
