It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

Now that you know what the flower girls are wearing, you should also hear a little bit about what they’ll be carrying. Our girls, like so many others in the hive, will be carrying pomanders.

After reading many amazing DIY tutorials on Weddingbee (Lab’s and Cloud’s, for example) I figured I could go ahead and give these a try. I headed to the craft store and picked up two six inch Styrofoam balls and some pretty purple flowers that were close to our color. I already had ribbon, glue gun supplies and pearl-headed pins at home, so I thought I was set.

Once I got started, however, I quickly realized that I had severely under-estimated the amount of flowers I would need. Instead of heading back to the store, I decided to take the lazy way out - I cut all the petals off of the flowers and started gluing them on to the balls in tiers. I got a lot more coverage than I would have with the full flower heads, and I saved myself a trip back to the store.

Am I in love with the results? Eh. I much prefer the look of Lab’s and Cloud’s poms, but I think they will do. The project was kind of time consuming, and I burned my hands enough times that I really, really did not feel like redoing them.

It’s not that I don’t care. It’s just that, well, OK, maybe I don’t care that much. I love our flower girls dearly, but I don’t think these poms are going to make or break their day. They are color coordinated, sturdy, and something they can take home with them (should they want to).

Take a look at my lazy-girl makeshift pomanders:

Did any of your DIY projects turn out less than great? Did you re-do or just re-lax?

I think they look great…that last picture kind of resembles a red clover flower:

that was very clever of you, and they look great! and it’s not like people will be bringing their whole-flower pomanders to compare.

I actually think the idea of gluing the petals is brilliant. For a DIY challenged gal like me, it makes the task of creating these suckers myself much more appealing and actually doable!

I think they look lovely (and were cost effective with your solution!). I was so-so happy with the way my STDs turned out. After looking around the hive, I got STD-envy (giggling a little in my head). But, decided that my “simple” ones were okay and put them in envelopes and sealed the envelopes before I had a chance to change my mind.
I really need to get around to posting them on my bio . . .

Nice! And speaking of Miss Lab, when is she going to post her wedding recaps? I’m dying to see them.

I think it looks awesome - just to put in my own two cents. I’m painting flower pots that I am having to settle on more than a little bit. It’s just not possible for me to get them to look perfect! But, I think it’s healthy to take a step back and say “good enough!”

Ha! I think they look great, and as Miss Pug said, it’s not like someone’s going to look at them and say - aren’t those supposed to have whole flowers stuck into them? Let’s compare to the one I made and brought with me to your wedding. Riiiight.
Good job finishing them up with what you had!

I think they look awesome! To be honest, it took 5 stems of flowers to do mine but the stems were HUGE, and while my flowergirl loved her little fluffy ball, my poor burned fingers did not. And no one really looked at it closely enough to see the blood and burns I put into it. :( and yes, I have a scar on my finger that has yet to fade! grr!!

Is it a general circular shape, does it have a handle, and it’s got flower-type stuff glued to it? Sounds perfect to meeeee

Great job, Miss Cheeseburger! They look absolutely gorgeous, and I think your method has created a new version of pomander! Way to be an innovator! :)

The Deep purple contrasted with the Sage is a great color combo! My Flowergirls also carried pomanders, but with fresh flowers…the florist foam inside was so heavy though my little ones were practically dragging them down the aisle like a bowling ball! I wish they were just a little less heavy for thier sake!
