Wedding Bands!

December 17th, 2009 @ 4:55 pm by Mrs. Scissors

A month or so ago, Mr. S and I went on an epic adventure. We went to visit Tiffany & Co. to look at wedding bands! My engagement ring is from T&Co., so naturally we want to have our wedding bands from there, too.

For Mr. S, we loved the 6mm Lucida.

For me, there are two options.

The 3mm Lucida, which is just the lady version of the ring he likes, and then also the 2.6 mm Bezet with diamonds.

For my ring we aren’t sure yet. For one thing, the diamond band cannot be engraved, which is something that we were looking forward to doing for each other. It also depends on how much we can spend. We both want to individually pay for the other’s ring, and not include it in the overall wedding budget. We weren’t planning on going platinum, but white gold. Too bad, as it looks like T&Co. phased out their white gold wedding bands.

Let me be the first to admit that we were still freaking terrified to walk into there by ourselves. It never intimidated me before, but ever since we’ve been going there as a couple, I’ve been totally intimidated! Maybe it’s because it’s not under the wing of my parents. It’s an exciting feeling, though. We always walk out with such a rush! You’d think that after buying my engagement ring there we wouldn’t be so scared. For instance, we really wanted to get my ring cleaned while we were there, but were too wired and anxious that we forgot to do it! I also think I used the words “awesome” and “sweet” about 400 times while we were speaking with the woman about rings. I know I must have sounded like a total moron. My vocabulary just went out the window. What silly children we are.

Anyway, it was a fun and exhilarating experience, and it makes my heart do flip-flops whenever I think about it.

Anybody else turn into a ball of excited-nervous energy upon entering a jewelry store to look at wedding bands? Surely we’re not the only ones!

I get really intimidated at Tiffany’s, too! I can’t help it–their doors are huge and everyone looks like they’re diamond professors or something.
I really like the band with sparklies! Can you get your e-ring engraved instead of your wedding band?

If you love the look of the diamond band and still want WG have you considered working with a private jeweler, instead of Tiffanys? The prices will be significantly lower, even if you have something custom made. I love, love, LOVE our jeweler (Good Old Gold), and was really pleased with the personal attention to detail we received when shopping for my engagement ring (fiance) and our wedding bands (both of us together).

Tiffany’s is so intimidating. It’s just something about that store… but I felt intimidated at all jewelry stores when we were looking at engagement rings. It was just such a monumental thing! I’m not sure how you couldn’t be intimidated just a little bit.

I’ve always been a Bailey Banks and Biddle lady myself, and yes I find myself unable to speak in their presence. I don’t have the same effect happen at Tiffany’s which is odd.

But Oh well! Bridal Brain or whatever you want to call it, we all get a bit tongue tied!

I have a huge crush on the Bezet with diamonds. I love all things Tiffanys. To the point that my wedding will have touches of Tiffany & Co. throughout. Like a Breakfast at Tiffany’s bridal shower.

My FI constantly asks me…let’s go into that store so you can see what type of wedding band will go with your ring. And I refuse! It scares me too! I feel like a little kid going into a grown up store! lol

BUT, just this past weekend I tried on wedding bands for the first time! It was such a cool experience…kinda makes it more a reality that we’re gonna get married soon! I haven’t decided what style I like..I really didnt’ LOVE anything I tried on.

We get excited every time we step into the Seattle Tiffany & Co- I blogged previously about Amy our “salesperson” and how awesome she is. My personal preference is for a plain band (and engraving!). I can’t tell from the photo if the Lucida is the one with the knife edge or not.

We’re both getting the knife edge ones- the Men’s version was discontinued so I had to buy it last month. Like you guys we are buying each others rings. He bought my e-ring so I figured it was only fair that I bought his.

We don’t plan on getting our rings from Tiffany’s but we did go in to browse at the South Coast Plaza store and the man in there treated us like we were billionaires. Fantastic customer service…they don’t judge a book by it’s cover (in my experience at least).

@Miss Ladybug: BB&B actually just went bankrupt, or at least the one here did!

@Miss Pretzel: They’re the le smooth ones. :p

We actually cheated on those rings today and yesterday and went to look at… others. Went to Bvlgari and Mayors. :p

What does your e-ring look like? Sorry I don’t really “know” you from the boards so it would help if you explained things in order a little ;)

We haven’t gone yet. I feel like I need a special outfit for them to take me seriously. But I guess my amex would take care of that.

Clover, my diamond came from Good Old Gold! I love them! People are so impressed with it’s quality. I get comments all the time. I’m also in the process of shopping for an e-ring and checked out Tiffany’s. I think their prices are good for what they offer… obviously on the higher side for the name. I’ll honestly go for the best fit/look matched with the best price for our bands. I’m still shopping ….

I turned into a 5-year-old at a candy store. Seriously. I engraved his ring so I was sort of bummed at the fact that my wedding band (or engagement ring for that matter) couldn’t be engraved. I love my ring though (and all the diamonds around it).

Some day I hope my sweatheart buys me something from Tiffany’s.

Ooooh Tiffany’s. I find it strangely not scary to go in there, which means I’m either fearless or oblivious!

Your e-ring is from Tiff’s? I thought you had that big beautiful moonstone…? I don’t remember seeing anything like that from them, guess I must have missed it! Your ring sure is cool, and these are gorgeous bands too!

We went with simple for his so I could engrave it for him. He had already engraved my engagement ring, so that was taken care of!

Buying wedding bands was definitely exciting. I loved it because it really made everything feel real when I saw The Hubs wearing a ring! :) Those rings are great. I actually also find Tiffany’s kind of intimidating to go into.
