About Mrs. Guinea Pig

Lest you think I simply sat around and did nothing in between my first dress shopping experience and the Filene’s attempt, let me assure you - I did plenty of ’research’! I can’t even count the number of dresses I tried on - is that bad? Since we all know I already found my dress and you’re probably plenty annoyed that I haven’t shown you the dress I actually bought, here’s a quick photo tour of the numerous other dresses I tried on in my quest.

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress7b Dress7b

(this dress made me realize I like sweetheart necklines)

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress5b Dress5b

(this dress made me make a note to avoid any more shiny materials; my face is shiny enough)

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress3b Dress3b

(this dress affirmed my dislike of the ribbon-under-bust look on me)

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress3a Dress3a

(I kind of liked this one, although I discovered I don’t really like the corset back style)

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress5c Dress5c

(What part of I’d-like-simple-detailing made her pull this dress?! And no thank you to extra fabric at my hips, nature gave me plenty there, thank you!)

And now for the dress that almost nudged my number one out of its top ranked position…. dun dun!

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress6a Dress6a

(beaded lace, slight sweetheart neckline, A-line shape - so pretty!)

Dress Shopping: In Which I Review the Many Other Dresses I Tried On : wedding wedding dress Dress6b Dress6b

(the real reason I almost bought this dress. I am obsessed with this train. How beautiful is that?!)

That last dress almost had me changing my mind, but I didn’t like the lace pattern as much, and I didn’t love the fact that the lace was beaded. I had only just come to terms with loving lace (and all its not-simple-ness), I wasn’t sure I could throw beads in with it. But, I knew I had to have that train!

Stay tuned for the final reveal…

How many dresses did you try on before you found your dress? Did you have a hard time deciding between options, or were you set on a certain style?

I went to 7 stores and i think i tried on at least 75 dresses…. That being said I found “my dress” at the 3rd store I went to but bought it at the 7th. When I tried it on at the first store I felt like I hadn’t tried on enough dresses to know if it was the one. But at the other 4 stores I used it as the yard stick to which each dress was measured by.

I love when the lace in the dress is longer, so it creates that train (like your last dress). I’m sure there’s a technical term for it???

Anyway, great dresses . . . and none of these are “the one”, so I can imagine!

I went to 3 salons and tried on about 30 dresses. I found “the dress” at the first salon and bought it at the third.

The lace train is beautiful! I can’t wait to see the dress you chose. I tried on about 10 dresses before finding “the one” and it was the second to last I tried on. I actually didn’t pick it out myself, the consultant picked it for me!

I love the train on the last dress! I’ve tried on about 20 dresses and am totally stuck between 2 right now.

I tried on so many dresses the first time, and even more dresses at my second attempt till I found the one. I adore the train on that lace one though, I can see how it made you waiver!

Ah!! I know I can’t believe I dragged this topic out for so long - it seemed so reasonable at the time! I swear that the next post reveals my dress :) Hope it lives up to everyone’s expectations…
