Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!

Fanciful & Feathery (Part 2)

December 21st, 2009 @ 11:52 am by Mrs. Rainbow

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program, “The Adventures of Feather Freak”… I mean… Miss Rainbow Fanciful and Feathery (Part 2) : wedding decor flowers Blush02 blush02.

I’ve documented my need for feather lovers anonymous, I’ve shown you my very feathery fascinator, and now it’s onto the next fluffy-fied accessory. Don’t you worry, this will be my last… I might love feathers, but I also believe that in some cases, feathers being one of them, less really is more. I’ll save the Vegas Showgirl get up for Halloween.

Anyway, as soon as I started thinking about flowers for our wedding, namely my bouquet, I knew I had to have feathers. Someway, somehow, they had to be in there. I didn’t want to go totally nontraditional and do an all feather bouquet, but a few feathers mingling amongst the flowers, or a feather collar, would be the perfect mix of sweet and sassy. While I’m still rustling up some feathers, let’s check out some inspiration, shall we?

This is the first picture I ever saw of a feathery bouquet, and it’s still my ultimate bouquet inspiration.

I love the droopy, dreamy shape the feathers create. Gorgeous, no?

At the moment, I’ve got about… oh… a QUARTER of the feathers that I need for my bouquet. And lucky me, the only store I can get them from in Tampa is out. I even called their warehouse and all I got was, “Oh… we’re showing zero, and I don’t know if we’re going to reorder them.” And apparently they don’t “do” special orders. Fabulous.

I’ve been searching for them like a mad woman online, but I can only find them at wholesalers… and, since I don’t own my own business I look to be s.c.r.e.w.e.d. I even tried the whiny, but generally effective: “but, I’m getting maaaaaarried and I need them for my wedddddding!” Yeah, apparently no one cares.

So, hive, I need your help. Maybe, hopefully, it’s just my lack of Googling skills, but I can’t find these suckers for retail anywhere

source

They’re made by Zucker (a feather company? IDK) and they are Dusty Rose and I will be forever indebted to you if you can find somewhere (anywhere!) that sells these babies for retail. These are desperate times, people, desperate times…

Have you run into a crafting road block due to some unforeseen circumstances?

… rainbow, my mom has a tax number for her design business; she can do wholesale accounts with those places. If Scissors link doesn’t take you to the right feathers, PM me and I’ll see if she can get an account with them.

@Miss Rainbow: I’m magic, what can I say? I just hunted through the zucker people’s website (which needs a lil’ help…lol) and found a non-wholesale link. Then I guessed as to which ones you were looking for, and they came in dusty rose, and voila! :)
