Mrs. Pretzel's Picture
Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: September 2, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
About Mrs. Pretzel

Slap a Beer Label on It!

December 21st, 2009 @ 8:10 am by Mrs. Pretzel

Finding a venue in an old brewery couldn’t have been more perfect! With that out-of-the-way my Pretzel brain got working on some of the more minute wedding details. First up: monograms!

It seems like weddings and monograms are attached at the hip these days. I found no lack of inspiration on the interwebs, but it all seemed elegant, sophisticated, and refined… and oh so not “us”.

Not that Mr Pretzel and I can’t be these things… but come on- my moniker is a freakin’ Pretzel. That should tell you what kind of folks we are—Beer and Pretzel folks.

Enter the Pretzel Beer Label.

OK, It’s more like a wedding logo. The original design actually came to me long before Mr P and I were even talking about marriage. I found the awesomest, bestest, I-qualify-for-girlfriend-of-the-year gift for Mr Pretzel’s birthday. A customized wooden 6 pack.

An Example six pack (not Mr Pretzels)

Note the utterly awesome Jubelale being featured there… I approve.

I like to think of it as his very own party pack- throw in a mix of brews and we are good to go. Roberto Sand on Etsy collaborated with me to design one for Mr Pretzel based loosely on the Leinenkugel’s logo. It had a Mount Rainier looking mountain under the “Pretzel Ale” Logo. We decked it out with fun beer quotes and a couple skulls and crossbones.

Here is the best part. Pretend that Pretzel rhymes with ale. No really, just imagine how great a beer label would be if Pretzel rhymed with ale… cause it does—I promise. The font for Pretzel is Marcelle from Da Font. I purchased the banner image for a couple dollars - I can’t remember where.

So what does one do with a beer logo in a wedding? Well the first thing we did was order a custom return address stamp and used it on our Save the Dates.

But we’re also thinking about:

  • custom napkins (hello Gocco!)
  • coasters
  • bar signage
  • labels for our “cheap beer” i.e. Bud Light… sigh…
  • favors

We’re still brainstorming where Pretzel Ale will make an appearance and I smile every time I stamp an envelope with our address.

Have you opted for a wedding logo instead of a monogram? What items would you “slap” your logo on?

Oh how fun! That container is super cool!!!
We’re making our own home brew as wedding favors and will be designing a label for it. We “were” going to put our labels on wine too but have since nixed the idea since we’re not doing the whole “leave 2 wine bottles on the table for guest to take home” idea.

I love RobertoSand. I used him to make favor tags for my wedding, and have ordered a few of the sick-pack holders.

And I love the logo!!

Mr. KM would LOVE this. He loves beer (I… do not so much) and we’re trying to figure out how to incorporate it without offending any grandmothers!

Awesome! I love it!
Side note: Are you really serving Bud Light at your wedding? I try hard not to be a beer snob, but eww! We actually bought some for our wedding thinking that some of the Dude’s family would drink it, but none of it got drunk! We still have some sitting in our fridge 3 months later!!

@KMSull: I am not sure that we will offend anyone- but I am sure some of our family will shake their head and think “those crazy kids”. Mr P’s parent’s aren’t drinkers and I think they think our all out love of beer is funny. :)

@Mrs. Mouse: We too are beer snobs- We plan to have on draft three different craft beers, but there is a segment of my family that loves beer- but they haven’t branched out to “good” beer yet. I go back and forth between buying a case of some sort of domestic in case they turn their noses up at our craft beer (a funny idea in and of itself).

You guys are amazing. :p

I think we’re using some crane illustrations I made for our logo. We can’t do monogram because he has a two-letter first name, and mine’s just one. No fair. :)

@Miss Pretzel: Mr. S is determined that we have good beer, but a lot of folks ’round these parts are die hard Miller Lite fans. I think we’re going to compromise by having PBR in little brown bags, homeless dude style, and then a nice bottled beer. Perhaps Paulaner Hefe, or Peroni. I’ve also demanded some sort of Sweetwater beer, and Sweetwater Blue is my favorite. (And hooray for local breweries!)

If only I knew this much about vino.
