A Big Rock For Me

December 22nd, 2009 @ 1:34 pm by Mrs. Pug

No, not on my finger, but on my ears.

I am kind of a bwaaak! bwaaak! (supposed to be a chicken squawking) about buying things over the internet, particularly if I know I can see and touch them in a store. So before I could take the plunge and buy one of the pair of earrings that I found on the internet, I decided to visit some stores in the Fashion District (mainly Seventh Ave between 37th and 38th Streets) to see some earrings in person.

There were many good, affordable options but I didn’t find anything that really grabbed me. So after searching high and low on the internet, and several storefronts, of all places I headed to Macy’s, which is typically a place to be avoided at all costs, at least in NYC (like a poultry factory farm—too close quarters).

Lo and behold, I found my earrings for $50.

Yeah, yeah, so again, my photography skills suck. The cellphone is in there for scale, although it occurred to me that you have no idea how big the cellphone is. So here’s another pic with me wearing the earrings, looking very fierce if I say so myself:

Please, please, refrain from all the posts commenting on how attractive I look in this picture.

What kind of jewelry, if any, will you be wearing for your wedding (besides your ring/s)? Did you purchase in person, or over the internet?

You are so brave for entering Macy’s at this time of year! Love the earrings. I know what I want pretty much but I’m a little wary of buying on the web because I’d like to see the size in person. I really want a nice, long chandelier style and pics on web sites tend to make jewelry look bigger than it is. I’m a bog one for seeing things in person. I’m paranoid like that. With a decent return policy, though, I’d go the web route.

I made a mad dash to Macy’s, JC Penney’s, Kohl’s and Boston Store the day my dress got in so I could try things on to see what looked best. I think I ended up with earrings from Kohl’s and a necklade from Penney’s (and returned the other 10 items).

Just giant rhinestone studs. I saw them first on the internet and then bought them in person. I had to witness their giant-ness for myself.

Sex-ay!! And good choice on the earrings. I buy as much as I can over the internet, I’m kind of an ebay junkie.

Nice find, Miss Pug, they look great! Department stores like Macy’s tend to overwhelm me with all the choices, I tend to do all my shopping online. Also: @3pugmama, too funny :)
