About Mrs. Pug

A Little Bling

December 22nd, 2009 @ 8:55 am by Mrs. Pug

My mom originally suggested that I wear a tiara for the wedding. I responded that she was nuts. Other people can pull it off really well, but I’m not a tiara type of girl. I’m also not a bracelet type of gal, and I did not want a necklace because my dress will have a halter strap and I wanted to keep my décolletage uncluttered.

OK, I’ll fess up. I don’t really have a distinctive decolletage to speak of. But don’t people want to see my collarbone? I wouldn’t want to deny anybody this privilege.

So for wedding bling, I just focused on earrings. Oh Regina B., you wring my heart into a lifeless little tissue.

Sigh–these Regina Bs were about $180 to $190. That’s 2 unlimited monthly MetroCards, people!!

Where to go for something affordable? Mrs. Champagne mentioned that Emitations was a good site. There is so much cool stuff on there, and most for under $100 (i.e. can still be pricey, but nice to know that I don’t have to spend $150 plus). I eyed these little baubles:

Sparkles Forever is another costume jewelry site where I found several options.

Amy’s Bridal Accessories also had some lovely options:

There are all these great options. I was strongly leaning towards Amy’s Bridal. But before I let you know what I decided, does anyone have recommendations for other good costume jewelry sites?

Try http://www.evesaddicition.com.
Adorable stuff at affordable prices, and they always have offers like percentages off and free shipping, etc.
I got my BM earrings there and a bracelet for myself…super fast shipping and adorable packaging, too!

I’m a fan of Roberta Chiarella’s earrings. Some are a bit expensive, but there is a good range of prices.

I got the 2nd regina B pair you have listed for my wedding and love them! They are really large and heavy, however, which isn’t obvious from the website pics. I couldn’t justify spending that much on them, but then my fiance got them as a b-day gift

If you’re in NYC try Macys or Lord and Taylor. I got my earrings at Lord and Taylor and they were nearly identical to the ones Kleinfelds tried to sell me for $250. Mine? Were $50 - yay for Lord and Taylor’s ever-present sales!

Can’t wait to see what you decided on, Miss Pug!

During my search for wedding bling, I stumbled upon http://www.1928.com. Very nice collections at surprisingly low prices!

pilgrim has really unique and beautiful…they are mostly coloured pieces.

you’d have to search their website for a retailer near you.

I second Eve’s Addiction - I bought a cute faux right hand ring from there.

I have some really great costume-inspired pieces that I got from Macy’s! Although as the wedding approached, I seemed to be a sucker for everything from that store.

I second the Roberta Chiarella suggestion! There is a pretty good range of designs from delicate to daring, and the prices are priced anywhere from under $100 to $200. The other thing I like is that she offers the same design in several sizes, so if you want a smaller earring as opposed to a big statement, you can have that option!

One of the bees once posted about Sam Moon. Here is the link for their Precious jewelry.

They have really inexpensive jewelry. I haven’t bought anything by them though so I am not sure of the quality.

I actually found some great ones at Gilt (Ben Amun sale). $76 or something for the biggest pair of gold (plated) chandelier earrings I’ve ever come across. Nadri at Nordstrom is pretty good, too, and usually under $150.

I like so many of the earrings you posted. i bet it was a hard decision to make! I got all my jewelery from Lulu Splendor on etsy. She is closed until the new year, as she’s on vacation, but check out here stuff ASAP once she returns!
