Hop on the Accessory Train

December 22nd, 2009 @ 11:08 am by Mrs. Cheeseburger

Everything is coming together. I even have all of my accessories together (I think). Here’s the rundown…

Birdcage veil (DIY) - I plan to wear this in some pictures, and potentially during the cocktail hour, though I’ll be honest, it’s kind of annoying since it’s right over my eyes. I made this myself, and like many other bees before me, I just kept bunching up the netting until I got it just right. I had hoped I would find some systematic way of doing it so that I could do a tutorial, but it just didn’t work out that way!

Hair Flower (DIY) - this will be for the reception, once my hair transformation is complete. Now this I can do a tutorial on! It’s a chiffon flower made from Martha’s patterns.

Originally, I made this one below, but it is huge, and I really like the simplicity of the newer one (above). I was able to give this to a friend to use for her big day. She’s a little more diva-esque (in a good way!) than me, and it fits her perfectly!

Bracelet (random find at Sears) - it’s simply but pretty

Brooch (White Aisle) - originally I got this to add to my dress, but once Audrey came in, it didn’t really fit in. Now I’m thinking I’ll use it on my bouquet handle or maybe once Audrey is altered and at home, we’ll find a place for it.

Earrings (Regina B) - originally, I didn’t think that these were substantial enough. I was expecting longer earrings with a little bigger width. But I am starting to come around. They are very, very sparkly in person, very pretty, and they match my engagement ring, the brooch and the bracelet really well. What do you think?

How long before your wedding was your entire ensemble complete? Did you plan it in advance or were you stuck searching for accessories at the last minute?

You might want to try wearing the bc veil on the side of the head, so that it doesn’t cover your eyes. That’s what I did with mine since it is anoying to have covering the face.

I think those earrings are really pretty and definitely big enough. The sparkle will make them stand out that much more. Good job on everything!

Your accessories are great! Is there any way you could post a little bit about how you made the first hair flower? It is almost exactly what I want to make for myself, so I would love any tips you have!

You could use your brooch as part of your bouquet! I really like your accessories! Your hair flower has inspired me to try to make my own.

Love both the flowers you made, and I think the birdcage veil is really cute! I also reeeally like those earrings, I think you should stick with ‘em, they match so well and are a great length (and super sparkly)!

@JBTrail: I actually bought a large ivory rose from Michaels, took it apart and kept the bottom four layers of petals (so basically I just removed the innermost fillers and the outer green plastic stuff that gives the flower its shape. Then I sewed the layers of petals together (so that they fanned out evenly), and attached a comb, a little piece of russian netting, feathers and some beads! That’s the really simple version, but if you have more questions, I’d love to help!!
