Although it took me forever to find the perfect blue for my bridesmaids, I will be wearing a different blue…
(Abby, by Touch Ups - dyed blue)
To Mr. Guinea Pig’s surprise/unease, I knew from the very beginning I wanted to wear blue shoes. His response?
“But.. it’s a white dress. Shouldn’t you wear white shoes?”
Ha! He should read more wedding blogs.
As much as I absolutely love the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses, I did not feel the need to match my shoes to their dresses exactly.
I think as my search for the ’perfect’ blue carried on, I realized that I actually just feel happy when I see any shade of blue! So while I had a specific image in my head for the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses, I have slowly incorporated other shades of blue into the wedding, including my shoes! I actually had these shoes dyed to match my rehearsal dinner dress (yes, I already have it) but when I tried them on with the dress I felt like it was too matchy matchy (and remember, we’re only going for one matchy) so I might find a different shoe to wear with that dress. Although, I had been looking forward to wearing these shoes twice, and showing them off a lot more at the rehearsal, but maybe it’s better that they are reserved as ’special’ for the wedding day?
I’m also considering adding a shoe clip for a little bling, but I’m struggling to find something that matches what I had in my mind (Surprise! Not.). Here are some of the options I’m considering:
(from BeadFloraJewels, on Etsy)
I like the beading and the fact that it’s not super sparkly yet still adds interest, but the flowers seem a little big for me. Not to mention this is by far the most expensive option.

These are pretty small (only 1 1/8″ long!) and again, I like the flower design - these would be a good balance of bling while not being overwhelming!
(from abitofnostalgia, on Etsy)
These are a good size and definitely add shine, but don’t have the flower theme. That might be okay; I’m afraid of overdoing the flowers.
(found on eBay)
Or maybe a vintage deco bow shape?
There are too many options! Even if I don’t find shoe clips I have to have, I’m so happy with the blue shoes that it wouldn’t matter. And just for fun, here’s a sneak peek of the shoes in action when I picked up my wedding dress:
Are you wearing colored shoes for your wedding? Did you add shoe clips? What’s your favorite place to find accessories (besides Etsy!)?
