Dressing the Little Ones

December 23rd, 2009 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Pug

Some of you may scoff in disdain at this post. Don’t comment. Really. Because I will flood you with nasty private messages, find out where you live and… oh wait, too far? Amongst our family members, we have four pugs. I’m sure most of you pet owners out there will understand when I say that these pugs are family to us. Before I got my pug I kind of laughed at how obsessed people were with their pets—I have now happily and shamelessly joined their ranks. For a while I made her food from scratch, we bring her on trips, and we have multiple coats, rain coats, winter booties, and a Halloween costume for her (not that you need these things to be a true pet lover, I am just lame that way). Here the victims of our adoration.

While they won’t be walking down an aisle, because that would pretty much turn into a furious hunt for treats, we wanted them to have a little pizazz for pre-ceremony photos.

I looked on Etsy and found these flowered dog collars made by Pecan Pie Puppies. They are about $20-24.

How cute are they? Plus, the pugs could wear them afterwards. So it wasn’t *really* a wedding expense (i.e. not going on the expenditure spreadsheet!).

I love hydrangea so I’m eyeing this one for my little puglet.

Anyone else gussying up their pet for the wedding? Don’t be shy—it can’t be as embarrassing as what I just revealed.

Um, super adorable. We thought about including our pups too but all I could envision was ripped-and-muddy tulle after too much jumping. Love those collars though.

Oh, for cuteness! While I’m certain that my cat will be happiest at home, away from all of the festivities, I think it’s fantastic that you want to incorporate your dogs in the pre-ceremony pics. And the collars are too adorable :)

We most definitely are. FI has a service dog and I’m thinking I’ll make her a special cape to match our wedding colors. Of course I also have ideas about a special leash and whatnot, but now that I’ve seen these collars, I may just have to peruse that site! Thanks for passing it on!

Love it! We thought about it too… but it would’ve been too much. We have a pug and a puggle!

I LOVE this!! My obsession is wiener dogs….both of mine will be dressed in wedding attire, along with my FI’s dog and they will serve as “greeter” outside the reception hall! Wouldn’t be our wedding without them!

Our dogs were in the wedding . I dont dress them up in clothing ususally, but they did both wear some snazzy bowties for the big day. They were adorable. And if I had a girl doggy I would totally get the hydrangea one!

I loves the puglets! That is the cutest idea!

Sadly none of our pets will be at our wedding, venue’s rules since we will be at a zoo…. But we will have a surprise zoo animal guest at our cocktail hour :) We just don’t know what yet…

Um I just died a little bit from the intense cuteness of this post. I wish my dog could be involved in the wedding but she’s a 90 lb. Golden Retriever and she is SO SO SO badly behaved that it’s just not realistic. I have images of her chasing after my train and ripping it off, grabbing at the linens on the hors d’ouvres table and everything shattering to the ground. She’s so darn cute, though… sigh.

As a fellow pug lover, or enthusiast, or general obsessed person, whatever you want to call it, I am totally with you. I always mocked people who dressed up their dogs, who treated them like their children or who showed pictures of them to random people. Now, we too, are looking to have pictures made with them for the wedding.

Its pugs. They change you. Once you own one, there is no turning back.

I can so relate! I even made a Halloween costume for one of our pugs last year (she was a Tootsie Pug, like a Tootsie Roll). I would love to have them walk down the aisle but our venue doesn’t allow it. I’m trying to manipulate our wedding day schedule to get some pics with the pugs before the ceremony. You should check out Merrylog, this woman’s blog about her pug who wore THE MOST ADORABLE white tutu for the woman’s wedding.

My 2 poodle mixes were at my outdoor ceremony, my boy in a bowtie collar and my girl in a polka dotted dress.

Ooh, I love those! Our pups won’t be around for our wedding but I might just get one of those anyway. =)

Many of my photography clients feel just a little lonely on their wedding day with out all of their best friends in attendance, and it’s great to see another fun ways to dress up our significant 4-legged others.
