Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: September 2, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. About Mrs. Pretzel

Just a Smidge of Color

December 23rd, 2009 @ 4:15 pm by Mrs. Pretzel

I love when a plan comes together! OK, maybe it isn’t just a smidge of color—remember, we’re planning a brightly colored bash. Previously I told you about:

Despite my ever changing mind and only being able to go shopping with one girl (the rest are all a plane ride away) the Pretzel ‘Maids came through! I got an email today—every one of my girls has picked out her dress, even my Jr. Bridesmaid.

Behold the Pretzel wedding party:

Just a Smidge of Color : wedding color schemes 4204532

From left to right:

Jr Bridesmaid C: David’s Bridal JB2815 in Oasis
Bridesmaid/FSIL M: Dessy Bridesmaid 2721 in American Beauty
Matron of Honor/SIL Tig: David’s Bridal 8159 1 in Oasis
Bridesmaid R: Dessy 2058 in Clementine
Bridesmaid H: After Six 6537 in Apple Slice
Bridesmaid/FSIL S: Dessy Bridesmaid 2764 in Spa

I couldn’t have picked better dresses for each of them and their body types. I also love that my niece’s dress matches her Mom’s—how cute is that? Mr Pretzel is worried that the girls will look like they just showed up with something out of their closet, but I think the matching GM ties will be a dead giveaway that all this brightness was intentional.

Did you dare to dress your gals in wildly different colors? Do you think it looks planned or a bit haphazard? Share photos of your mismatched maids!

I think it looks awesome! I’m also letting my bridesmaids pick whatever summery color and dress they want. I can’t wait to see what they pick!

When I first was engaged I was talking with my dads sister who got married in the late 70’s and she said she still regrets she did not get to have multi-colorod bridesmaid dresses!!! So I think this is great and will always make the pictures fun to look at!

Love the colooorrrrr! I wish I could get my ‘maids on board with color-crazy dresses. I had to open my big mouth at the beginning of the planning and holler for black dresses. Blurg.

@Miss Rainbow: Lol, before I applied to be a Bee, and before you became a Bee, Mr P was like “you totally have to be Rainbow because we’re having a freakin’ rainbow wedding!” Lol- I’m glad you are Rainbow and I am Pretzel- wouldn’t have it any other way.

@Miss Scissors:I was a little surprised by your LBD :) But I know you’re going to splash color elsewhere-right?

@Miss Pretzel: I’m trying not to go LBD. My stupid initial wedding planning self was all “NO COLOR. ONLY BLACK AND WHITE. NO PINK IN A 5 MILE VICINITY.”

Hah. Suck it, former self.

I was MOH in a wedding last year that is almost identical to what you are doing with the colors. I have to admit, I was kind of nervous at first when she was describing it, but it ended up looking great!

Fantastic color combos and what a fun idea to go so un-matchy-matchy!

Love all the colors! And it will definitely look intentional with the matching groomsmen’s ties. Those dresses/colors make me happy just thinking about them all together at your wedding!
