Now that I had the bags, I had to figure out what to put in them…

At first, Mr. N and I both thought beach towels would be cute, possibly with everyone’s initials on them. Then I scoured the internet for affordable ones and realized that they are just not out there unless you order them in quantities of 200 or more. Um, no. I also realized that if we were worried about getting the bags alone out there, how in the world would we be able to add 24 towels to our list of things to bring? So, towels were out.
I looked all over the internet to get ideas, but found that people typically make out-of-town bags for people coming in from out-of-town, so the couple has the luxury of giving them out in their hometown. I found a few ideas, though…
Snacks: I figure when we get to St. Thomas, we have to hit the courthouse for the marriage license, so while we’re out we plan on hitting the stores (they have a Kmart and something along the lines of Costco) and stocking up on granola bars, chips, nuts, etc. – basically anything to keep our guests from having to go to the vending machines for something to nibble on.
Bottled Water: We’ll buy a case or 2 along with the snacks, and I plan on making personalized labels for the bottles. Something along these lines…

Sunscreen: We originally talked about trying to find little bottles of sunscreen that we could slap our own labels on – something like…

But we had trouble finding ones that we could order in small quantities. We thought about bottling our own – ebottles.com has these for pretty cheap…

But finding industrial-sized jugs of sunscreen to fill those with is proving to be tough. Mr. N’s mom found some little bottles at Target about a month ago but I haven’t made it out there. I’m guessing at this point, they’re probably gone, but once spring comes back around, we should be able to snatch some up.

Most airports and hotels have free maps, guide books, and coupon books and we plan on cleaning them out of as many as we can fit in our hot little hands.
First Aid Kit: We’ll make these ourselves, complete with Band-Aids, pain relievers, antacids, and antibiotic ointment.
Sewing Kit: ‘Nuff said.
In the kids’ bags: coloring books, stickers, fun straws, etc. Basically, anything to keep them busy.
The bags are pretty big and that’s about all I’ve come with so far. I’m still brainstorming about what else we can bring, but I’m thinking once we take our shopping trip in St. Thomas, we’ll find tons of things to add. Do you have any other suggestions?
