Our Engagement Shoot Rocked.

Our Engagement Shoot Rocked. : wedding engagement pictures Smallim smallIMG_2106

If anyone is ambivalent about having an engagement shoot, I hope our experience changes your mind! Our engagement shoot was with Matt Miller, and let me tell you, it was awesome. 48 different kinds of awesome. This is coming from a girl who was TERRIFIED of having an engagement shoot, or any pictures at all taken!

The morning started off with much flustering around and lots of me walking around in circles. I eventually sat down, made a ridonk playlist and continued folding our 20348 paper cranes.

The amazing Luke Salter came over to the apartment at 2PM to style our hairs. I really wish Luke could come over every day and do my hairs.

I didn’t actually decide on what to wear until… about 20 minutes before we left the apartment.

At 4PM we went to go meet Matt, and of course I got lost, and then un-lost.

For the next 3.5 hours…

  • We tromped through a brush patch, complete with me pushing Mr. S over into a barrel roll. (I was following directions, swear to God.)
  • We laid in a tiny median under an overpass beneath the “Pray for ATL” graffiti on Moreland Ave. I successfully flashed half of Atlanta.
  • We were shot covered by the 420483 paper cranes that I folded. At one point it was raining tiny cranes.
  • We played in stairways, boxes, and doorways at the High Museum. It was very Alice in Wonderland at some points. I truly was the fifty-foot bride in my 4-inch heels.
  • We confused the customers at Cypress St. Pint & Plate by kissing in front of the fire pit.
  • Mr. S scaled the iron doors at our apartment building while I looked shocked.

I took along the DSLR, but was too hyper puppy to even take it out of the car.

We had a total blast. I’m sure I was an embarrassing spaz for most (if not all) of the time. Hopefully it’ll came across as awesome rather than super weird or unattractive.

Can’t wait to show you guys the photos! Stay tuned for the amazing run-down.

Who else was terrified before their engagement shoot? How did your experience go? (Well, I hope!)

I was so worried about the engagement shoot. I mean..just walking around, taking pictures, what if I was boring to the photographer?? But we had an AWESOME time, and it got us prepared for the wedding day. I recommend everyone do a photo shoot at least once in their life. I’d love to do it again!

I’m glad you had a blast! Ours sucked. I hate all but three of them. Lesson learned for the wedding, though! I now know that any sort of pose-y pose-y crap makes me (a) look stupid and awkward and (b) want to barf afterwards.

We’re doing ours next month with a former bee and I can’t wait. I’ll be sure to pull out some of my tyra moves and find the light and smize.

I need to teach my fiance smize soon, I just realized.

Your e-pics are amazing, in fact, and I look forward to seeing them again.

@mimosa: I second everything you said! It really is just a total blast to do one.

@tea: They really are. Try not to look at them, and keep waiting! I know my dumb-butt plastered them everywhere, not thinking I’d ever be a bee!

@Miss Pug: Woo! ACT SURPRISED!

@Kittyachi: Well, at least you learned something from them. :-/ Maybe you can find a local bad-ass beginning photog that wants to beef up their portfolio and do some free/inexpensive shots?

@diorable: Orly? I thought you were working with Heidi? Dude, study Tyra. And Benny Ninja. I totally channeled him at the end of our shoot.

@Jessie516: Skanx! You guys can do an anniversary shoot? :)

@Mrs. Labrador: Pfft, you know it. Holla at a playa.

Oh, and a PSA that I should have included in this post, but will include now:

EVERYBODY ACT SURPRISED!

and if you haven’t yet seen them, or seen the whole mess of ‘em…

PLEASE DON’T GO SEARCHING FOR THEM OR CLICK ON ANY LINKS THAT I POSTED!

That is all. :) I’m a dummy, and I love you all. Lol.

@Miss Spaniel: You will! Just let loose. Looking at the beginning part of our proofs you can see how… awkward I was feeling. (Or at least I can tell!) It’ll be fun. Promise.

We’re doing Heidi for the wedding but couldn’t work out a trip to Atlanta for the engagement shoot. The Bee is a bit more local.

I will totally feign surprise!

I was so excited for our E-shoot and a nervous ball of mess at the same time. My stomach was doing flip/flops for the 1st hour. Our photographers are wonderful and had us very relaxed, we got to make oatmeal raisen cookies in my condo. We took the pups out in the rain and walked around Yale & played with mirrors. It was a blast but took a good while to calm the nerves. I can’t wait to see our results, the shoot was 2 weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing yours Miss Scissors, your locations sound fantastic!!!

Hmmm, it DOES sound fun! Maybe we should reconsider not having an e-shoot…..
