(Although that would also be awesome.)

Strawberries and Champagne

December 23rd, 2009 @ 2:11 pm by Mrs. Spaniel

One of my favorite ways to celebrate a big event is with a bottle or two of bubbly. Although we won’t have an official champagne toast, our venue does provide a glass of sparkling wine and strawberries for each guest after the ceremony to kick off the cocktail hour. This should not only be sparkly and delicious, but will also apparently provide a great photo op!

Since one of a good thing is never enough, strawberries and champagne will be making another special guest appearance on our wedding day: on my skin! See, I am not really a perfume-y type of girl: my favorite scent on human skin is that of soap. I do sometimes indulge in an oatmeal and honey lathering, or rosemary and sage, but that’s really as crazy as it gets. I know, I’m a wild one.

For this one big day, I think I’d like to mix it up a little and maybe smell like something other than just soap. So after exhaustive research, I think I’ve figured out the fragrance for me!

I haven’t decided if I’ll go for the Eau de Toilette or the body mist—I’m almost afraid the Eau de Toilette will be too strong after years of wearing no fragrance at all—but I definitely enjoy this scent. It’s fresh and light and natural, and I think Mr. Spaniel will enjoy it, too.

Are you picking a new scent for your wedding day, or going with something tried and true?

I’ll go with the first perfume he ever bought me (and also my fav) CHANEL CHANCE… every time I wear it he comments on how good I smell :)

I have the body cream in that same VS scent and the smell lasts all day! But not too over powering at all.

How fun to represent your champagne and strawberries in your scent for the day! :) I just wore my usual perfume, but I think it’s a cool idea to try something distinctive.

I think I’ll stick with my tried and true (just add spray to my usual lotion) - B&BW Black Raspberry and Vanilla. It’s one of the few scents that doesn’t make me sneeze.

I’m going to go with my favorite (and his favorite on me!) scent. It’s clean, fresh, green, and doesn’t give me a headache. lol

I love that scent! I wore Pink Sugar–it’s the only fragrance the Dude likes! Smells like cookies.

Oh man, this is something I hadn’t even considered! Maybe I’ll use the perfume my sister just got me for Christmas… I’ll probably still be obsessed with it in May :)

not to be a downer, but don’t forget to wear it a few times first, just to make sure you’re not allergic to it or something.

The mist is great because it’s a lighter application, but really doesn’t last all that long (I worked for VS on the beauty side of the store in college). But you’re right that the Eau de Toilette can be a little overpowering if it’s not applied right, and then you’re stuck with too much. I’d recommend actually getting the lotion as well, paired with the mist. That way you’re moisturized and can layer the scent for a longer lasting smell. You can also get a travel size for your clutch or the bathroom baskets, to reapply as needed.
