About Mrs. Pug

I Was a Bunny

December 28th, 2009 @ 4:00 pm by Mrs. Pug

Not a Playboy Bunny a la Gloria Steinum, but rather, a hardcore gym bunny (more like a jackrabbit).

Like most brides, I’ve thought about fitness routines in preparation for the wedding.

First, some background. I went to college in California, and in California if you don’t exercise they kick you out. (And BTW, I wrote this line WAY before I saw Twilight—how dare Bella steal my line.)

After college, my workout schedule ramped up. I was going five or six times a week—yeah, totally CRAZY. So there I was, huffing and puffing, doing spin class, kickboxing, aerobics, yoga, treadmill, weights…

(note: the view in my class was of a mirror reflecting my red-faced sweaty face at me)

And then I met Mr. Pug. And SO stereotypically I stopped working out. I wanted to spend my free time with him, not at a gym. We tried going a couple of times together, but our work schedules became more disparate, we got a dog, and I used those as excuses not to go.

Whereas I used to be a ball of muscle, I became undertoned and felt like my lungs were going to waste.

I needed to remove the can of beer (or box of chocolates in my case) from my tummy, get off the couch, and put on some clothes. Oh, and stop wearing men’s briefs. So, how was I going to do this?

What kind of roller coasters, if any, have you had with your fitness regime?

I’ve never been a gym bunny or even remotely close, but I have found I have even less drive to go now that my wedding is 4 months away! I need help!

Last year I was doing pretty well working out 4-5 days from January to about June but over the summer I stopped and never really started again. My goal is to get back in classes as often as I did last year.

I wish I could lie and say I was a gym bunny. But, I do something physical everyday, even if it’s not in the gym. Could I do more? Of course! But now I’m really getting motivated!

My padded cycling seat just showed up. I’m much more excited about spinning now that I won’t have to wear my padded granny cycling shorts.

I go through phases where I work out a ton and phases where I barely work out at all! Sometimes it’s all or nothing, isn’t it? I’m curious to see how you got yourself motivated–I could use some motivation right now!

I’m like Mrs. Mouse. I was doing so well there for a while - yoga twice a week, and half an hour on the treadmill everyday. The holidays threw me off the wagon, though :(

I’m actually lucky that our schedules work out so that The Hubs and I can hit the gym together at least 4 days a week. On the other days, I take a spin class with my sis and/or go on my own. Do you have a pal who can be your gym buddy? Sometimes I think that keeps me honest.

Um, yeah, remember my post about being allergic to exercise? I haven’t gotten on the treadmill since. That was quite a while ago. Good luck!

I will become a gym bunny after we get married… because it saves us about 100 dollars on Health insurance a month if we work our for 15 days a month…

Oooh boy.

on and off. i’m going to attempt to start a modified [by me] routine of selected p90x routines in the new year [because, you know, the accessories i'd need will totally be on sale in january!] and hopefully i can stick to that. hopefully.

and the only reason why they haven’t kicked me out of california is that i’m good at hiding. lol

Ugh, story of my life as of late. Exercise, meet all-you-can-eat cruise vacay. I need to get back on track, pronto!

I am allergic to working out..that is what I’ve decided….ughhhh. Mr. Buttons has been really good about getting me to work out ever since we met…I thank him for it but at the same time it takes a lotttt of persistence on his and my part!

I exercise a lot… after years of being a couch potato. Once you start, it’s hard to stop!

My FI has had a harder time these last few years– he gained a lot of weight, but thankfully through south beach & running he’s back to his healthy weight :)

ditto!! i became so happy and relaxed and well soft… i think i’ve gained about 20 or so pounds since M and i got together (omg faint) that’s awful since it’s only been 19 months, but what’s that a pound a month so it slowly crept up… let’s just say i am now working on reversing the loss but i sure hope it doesn’t take me 19 months to lose!!

… I used to be a gym bunny. And then I decided Mr. KM was a better use of my time. And now I haven’t been in 5 MONTHS! I’ve been paying fees the whole time, too. Jan. 1 is my… day to go back.

Since my FI moved in, it has become a lot more difficult to get out of bed in the morning to go to the gym. I also don’t do so well the mornings after he’s been on call & the phone rings at night. That being said, my minimum is 4 workouts a week, no matter what. My employer has a fabulous gym that costs like 17 bucks a month. Makes working out very convenient!

GAH I did this for awhile. I got so out of shape that when I finally got motivated again, I pulled a muscle… SETTING UP. Not even actually working out, just pulling out the free weights. :(

My roller coaster is the fact that I’ve been sickpants for what feels like forever! I need to get back to the gym, but my trainer keeps fussing at me for being sick. :(
