Marshmallow on a Stick

December 28th, 2009 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Hamster

Hi bees! Hope you all had a great holiday - the Mister and I spent some long-needed vacation time cruisin’ in the Caribbean aboard this:

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise cruise+

While it was tons of fun:

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise01 cruise+01

Who’s ready for some snorkeling?

It was also tons of this:

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise02 cruise+02

Souffles Supreme

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise03 cruise+03

Cheese-stravaganza

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise04 cruise+04

Lobster Tacomania

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Cruise05 cruise+05

Chocolate Buffet as Far as the Eye Can See

As you can imagine, by the end of the cruise, I felt like this:

Marshmallow on a Stick : wedding fitness food health Hamster hamster

And at least that hamster’s eating a carrot. I could not claim the same.

I admit, this is not a great place to be less than 6 months away from the wedding. Luckily, I have someone to help me out of this mess. On January 5th, I’m meeting with a nutritionist, and together we’ll put together an eating plan for the next two months. I feel so grateful for this opportunity - I’ve always wanted to do something like this, but never put together the effort and resources to follow through. I don’t really know too much about the plan - it’s actually for a nationally published health magazine (I had applied to be a part of the article a while back and promptly forgot about it). What I do know is that a few weeks ago, I took my “Before” picture for the magazine - and if there’s anything less flattering than a full length black bodysuit for a glossy photo spread, please let me know.

I’ve been fortunate enough thus far to carry only a little extra weight on my frame. When people look at me, they see a medium-sized, not-too-plump, not-too-thin gal. However, I’ve become thoroughly skilled (or just lazy) at relying on my small-boned frame. Give my arms a good squeeze and you’ll see that they’re soft mushy marshmallows all the way down to my stick-bones (I’m great for hugging). Hopefully after this new plan, my marshmallow body won’t be as Jet-Puffed.

So join me, readers, as I embark on this two month ride. I’ll divulge in copious and not-too-hungry (hopefully) detail the challenges and triumphs on my journey. I’m counting on you, not to mention the “After” bodysuit picture, to keep me honest.

Did you indulge over the holidays? What are you doing to get back on track?

OH SO JEALOUS!

I was a good girl over the holidays. I’ve been sick though, so I haven’t been able to gym it very much, which makes me super guilty.

I was super horrible over the holidays! I gorged! I was like a monster from a movie - SHE FED. Seriously, it was gross. Now I’m paying for it. Today started the healthy eating/exercise rotation again!

Good for you! I just signed up at the gym while they were running an awesome special for personal training! Now is a great time to sign up because a lot of places probably have great deals. Anyway, I figured starting now (as opposed to a week from now) would hopefully keep me in check over the upcoming weekend. 5 months away as of this Wednesday! I know we can all meet our goals! It’s great that we can rely on weddingbee for support. Good luck!

Ohhh dear, I was NOT good over the holidays. Are the holidays over? Because I’m still using the excuse “But it’s the holidays!”…. Can’t wait to hear your tips/details! Good luck! I’m jealous of your nutritionist :)

That’s great! I am probably going to join a gym *GASP* after Jan 1. I dont’ need to lose weight, but I wouldn’t mind losing like 5 lbs (will still be healthy) and toning up, just so I look my most perfect on my wedding day. I also want to look great for wherever we end up going on our honeymoon!

A little off topic, but can I ask what you thought of the cruise itself? Did you go on the one that leaves from NY? I’m doing a small destination ceremony on a cruise and am leaning towards the same ship.

I got a new scale for Christmas (it was something I had registered for) and although I’m interested to try out it’s bells & whistles (% body fat, % water, etc.), I’m also pretty terrified. Definitely going to make it to the gym today. And then probably eat more Christmas cookies . . .

I decided today that the Holiday Gorgefest of 09 has officially defeated me. Are you going to be featured in a national magazine? If so, what great motivation!

Mmm…cheese plate…I indulged a little, not a lot, but I’m still afraid to check the damage on the scale. ;)

I’ve gained at least 5 pounds gorging on holiday treats. Losing weight will be a new year’s resolution for me as well!

@MissDoodles: I thought the cruise itself was great. We did sail out of New York. Granted, I have no frame of reference since this was my first cruise, but they had a variety of specialty restaurants and a ton of activities. Except for one very unfortunate case of food poisoning (Sushi toward the end of the cruise, I should have known better), we had a blast.

@Miss Snow: As long as I’m successful, I should be! There are 20 women participating in this plan - I’m guessing they took so many assuming some might not follow through. I hope I’m not one of them!

Mmmm loveee cruises! So fun, but such treachery for the waistline! Being able to eat 24/7 all inclusive is soooo ridiculous!

And btw I noticed we share the same wedding date! Let’s get buff on a deadline together!!! ;)
