Miss Rainbow's Picture
Miss Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. Someday the FI and I will change the world, but first we're tackling our modern-vintage-Marie-Antoinette-meets-Alice-in-Wonderland inspired wedding. I just can't wait to be Mrs. Rainbow!
About Miss Rainbow

Claymation Procrastination

December 29th, 2009 @ 11:28 am by Miss Rainbow

A couple weeks ago while Mr. Rainbow was at work, I was cleaning up around the loft. While putting away the massive amount of junk that had accumulated on our bar, I found what was left of the sculpting clay that I bought to make the bee on Mrs. Emerald’s ornament. In true Rainbow fashion, I decided it was the perfect excuse for a break.

I’ve talked about a few of the amazing cake toppers that can be found on Etsy, and although I’ve already made our bird cake topper that I still fully intend to use, I decided to try my hand at making a clay bride. I needed a distraction and I figured, “why not?” Basically, I had no expectations and just wanted to see if I could do it.

As I was making my clay bride it was, to my surprise, turning out half-way decently, so I decided to continue the project. I gave her curled hair, and a dress like mine, and even a bouquet. I baked her and painted her and named her “Rainbow Bride”:

I finished Rainbow Bride and noticed that I had quite a bit of clay left. Well, I didn’t feel like cleaning again (no surprise there), so it was soon decided that Rainbow Bride could not, in fact, be a bride without a Rainbow Groom. So I made a mini Mr. Rainbow, complete with blue eyes, a cowlick (tee hee), and a shy hand in his pocket:

*personal photo*

Mini Mr. Rainbow and Rainbow Bride (that’s my name, don’t wear it out) were all set to live very happily ever after in Clayville:

But something wasn’t right (and I still had a crap load of clay left). How can Mr. Rainbow and Rainbow Bride live happily ever after in Clayville with out their beloved fur babies? Well, they can’t, obviously. So the mini-Rainbow Bride commissioned the maxi-Rainbow Bride (i.e. me… Is this weird enough yet? I know. Tell her to stop badgering me already…) to create her sweet little puppies. So I did:

So, Rainbow Bride, Mr. Rainbow, and the Rainbow Pups all lived happily ever after in Clayville. The end.

Has procrastination ever uncovered a hidden talent of yours? Is procrastination your not so hidden talent? Since I already have our bird cake topper, what should I do with these?

Um, those are freaking adorable. And procrastination is one of my God-given talents. But I don’t think I’m talented enough to make clay people the resemble actual people. Bravo!

These are awesome! What an amazing hidden talent. I think you should totally use them on your cake. I mean, it seems only right that the mini Rainbow Bride and groom be surrounded by their fur babies on their wedding day!

Oh my gosh those are awesome!! Can you set them at the guestbook table? You definitely should display them somewhere! They are too darn cute to hide away! Great job - procrastination is the best for that, isn’t it? I bake alot when I’m procrastinating!

Those are freaking adorable!! I love them! Maybe they could hang out near the guest book? Or maybe you could have a topper on the groom’s cake (assuming you have a groom’s cake).

I vote for putting them out either by the guestbook/card table, what have you, or maybe having them hang out with whatever you were going to do for escort cards…

Super cute!

SO cute!!!! We had clay toppers made of us and our FOUR puppies from etsy. They turned out super cute and we put them next to our stadium groom’s cake. I forgot to have us take a picture with them, so make sure you and Mr. Rainbow get one! :)

Those are adorable, and it’s hilarious to imagine you making those as procrastination. Luckily, my housecleaning is my procrastination from homework, so I get my house pretty clean during finals weeks. :)
