Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Beauty Tried and True: Part 1

December 31st, 2009 @ 1:47 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

OK, so we are all hoping to be beautiful and glowing on our wedding day, but really, who has lots of money for different treatments? Um…not me. Well, recently I heard of some different beautification techniques that are really cheap, and can be done with items you likely already have around your house. So, the problems I will tackle are under eye circles, puffiness, tightening of pores, softening of the skin, acne, environmental damage, and aging. Wow, that sounds like a hefty list, right? I hope the tips and tricks I have for you will be beneficial.

Here’s how I looked before all my beautification began:

Beauty Tried and True: Part 1 : wedding beauty diy 11 1

First up: Acne, softening of the skin and tightening of pores via an Aspirin Mask.

What you need:

Just one bottle of generic uncoated aspirin (about $3) and water.

How to make it:

1. Put 4-6 uncoated (very important) aspirin in a small bowl and crush them into a powder. It doesn’t have to be super fine, just make sure it’s good and broken up.

2. Add 3 drops of warm water and mix to form a paste. If it’s too thick and clumpy, add more water.

3. Spread the mixture over your face and neck. Wait about 10 minutes for it to dry.

4. To remove, pat warm water over your face and start to massage your face in small circles, using the aspirin granules as an exfoliant. Rinse the rest off and admire your gorgeously glowing complexion.

NOTE: This mask can be messy as bits of the aspirin can flake off of your face. Try to stay in one place so you don’t leave a trail of white powder all over your house.

What at-home beauty secrets do you have?

I actually have heard of this and I heard it works miracles! Well Im weird and I LOVE pale skin. I am already fair but I would love to be a little more fair. So I recently bought Papaya soap! Not only does it whiten your skin but it removes redness as well as evens out your skin tone! I havent received it yet but I read reviews on it online and it has received raving reviews!!

The first few pictures look like you’re about to do a couple of lines of aspirin. I was like wow, weddingbee is getting a little too edgy..

@Miss Pug: I’m sort of regreting that picture now that I see it!! I was brave momentarily! But the day after I went to work and a co-worker told me I was very glowy! She had no idea I’d done anything different. So maybe that works. :)
@diorable: Haha!! I know! Mr. Fro Yo was like, um what the hell are you doing in here?

Salicylic acid is in many common acne medications, as well as asprin and wart medication. I’ve crushed asprin and mixed it with petroleum jelly to get rid of warts.

I use this all the time! It’s easier to crush the aspirin if you add the drops of water beforehand and just let it break down. I also add honey to the mix so help my skin stay moist.

@lkao81:Smart! There were definitely random pieces of aspirin flying up and hitting me. I’m betting the water would help with that.
@tea: So far so good! My skin felt very soft after. I’ve heard you can add honey or yogurt too if you want. But I just went with water and aspirin.

Dang, this is so easy…I am very tempted to try! What a cool idea…I love when you are able to use household items for beauty purposes.

Try it next time with a little bit of honey as the emolient for the aspirin. It’s seriously amazing. Plus it helps the aspirin stay on!

@Mrs. Hot Cocoa: I second the honey! Aspirin masks are great, even if you do get a lot of crazy looks in the meantime.
