Gifts for my Girls

December 31st, 2009 @ 3:17 pm by Mrs. Cheeseburger

I have the world’s best ladies serving as my bridesmaids on my big day. I really wanted their gifts to be special, but also practical; I tried hard to think of things they would enjoy not only on the wedding day, but also afterwards.

Alright Cheeseburger Maids - avert your eyes if you want to be surprised!

First up, a gorgeous pashmina in the most yummy shade of orchid, purchased last fall from H&M for $12 each (I really wish I had gotten myself one, ha).

A handmade pearl necklace & earring set, made with supplies from Michaels. The total cost for 9 was about $30, so about three dollars for each set. I made them thinking that the girls could wear them at the wedding, and maybe afterwards too, if they like them enough. :)

Gifts for my Girls : wedding bridesmaid gift Img 83201 The ever-important change of shoes. I thought for a while about getting them flats, but I didn’t find a pair that I was 100% in love with. Plus, who doesn’t love flip flops? These shiny silver ones will be comfy and still kind of dressy at the same time. I got them online at Target.

I also knew that I wanted to gift them a bag. I searched high and low for a reasonably-priced purple bag and continually came up short in one of those two departments. Eventually, I decided to attempt to make the purses myself. After multiple trials with different patterns, I settled on one I liked best. I plan to do a full tutorial on these bad boys soon, but for now, a picture of the fruits of my labor (I know they’re not the greatest, and I actually wrote the girls notes saying that I will not be offended if they throw them away, haha):

And finally, I wanted to give them something I thought for sure they would use after the wedding. I have always loved these necklaces from Tiffany for their simple elegance. However, at $165 a pop, I clearly couldn’t afford to get nine of them. I was pleasantly surprised to find extremely similar (OK, direct knock-offs) here for less (way less). The look is obviously the same, and I hope the girls won’t mind the lack of little blue boxes - I think they’re awesome. :)

So here’s the whole lot of it grouped together. I’m really excited to pass these goodies along to the girls at our rehearsal dinner, and I hope they enjoy receiving them as much as I’ve enjoyed acquiring & making them!

Wow, I’m so impressed that you made the necklace and earrings!
I’m giving my girls a clutch, flip-flops, a shawl, and a tote bag with their initial on it to carry their stuff to my parents house to get ready the morning of the wedding.

I looooove your choices. I actually am getting my girls pearls and wraps as well. Our wedding colors are tiffany blue and navy (the girls are wearing navy dresses) so I am getting them these necklaces http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34814673 with the tiffany blue ribbon and then getting them tiffany blue wraps from etsy as well- http://www.etsy.com/shop/ClassyWedding
Sorry I don’t know how to add pictures. I’m a bit new at this. At any rate- LOVE your bridesmaids gifts. Congratulations!!

What a steal on the initial necklaces! I was looking for something like that from the Tiffany website, but the price was too steep! Great find Miss Cheeseburger!

Great job on the gifties, Cheeseburger! Your bridesmaids sure are lucky! Wanna add a 10th to the list? ;) I’m ‘gifting’ them $100 towards their BM dresses, which is pretty much all of the gift budget for them, but hopefully I can swing a few more homemade gifts to thank them

Lovely! I like that you balanced handmade items with store bought– very personal and fun! I sincerely doubt any maid will be tossing that adorable purse! Great work!

Awesome…I still haven’t decided what to do for the bridesmaids, but I like the idea of giving them a group of gifts.
