Mrs. Trail Mix's Picture
Mrs. Trail Mix, New York Age and Occupation: 26, PE Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA Student Engagement Date: March 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow School About Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
About Mrs. Trail Mix

It’s growing larger and more powerful everyday. I can’t stop it, I can’t control it—no one can, we can only try to limit its growth for as long as possible. Right now, it only occupies 1/4 of the room but there’s no telling how big it could become. There’s no weapon strong enough to defeat it. Shutting the door will only help for so long. It feeds on the burning desire of this bride for her wedding to be as beautiful as possible. Run for your lives, folks, the wedding crap is taking over!

Yes, it’s true, my old bedroom has officially become the storage room for all wedding decor and crafts. Thank goodness my parents are fine with storing everything there because if I had to keep it all in my little studio apartment, Mr Trail Mix and I would literally be tripping over things right and left. Don’t believe me? Take a look…

You can’t tell from the photo but that pile of stuff includes the cafe lights, mason jars, lavender favors (which I finished, all 180 of ’em!) picture frames, votives, paper lanterns and table number holders. And I still have more stuff back at my apartment in the city. Yeeesh.

Ooooh, that picture reminds me of another find I meant to share with you all…

While I was browsing Snippet and Ink’s weekly deals the other day, I clicked on this website called Estilo Weddings and in the sale section, I found these:

Blue and yellow paper lanterns, perfect for my blue-and-yellow wedding! I snatched up the last remaining set of 8 for $30 total, which included the little LED lights and shipping. I think that was a pretty good price, for patterned ones. They’re on the smaller side (12″, I believe) but I think they’ll look really pretty mixed in with the bigger white and yellow paper lanterns that I’m planning on getting to hang over the dance floor. It’s a small step towards the larger picture but I’m happy with the purchase and it feels good to take even baby steps towards feeding the monster I’ve created in my old bedroom…

I’m sure most of you ladies know what I’m talking about! Who else feels like their house is being taken over by wedding supplies?

Um, me! But thankfully we have an entire room that we don’t use because we’re still growing into our house, and it is now “the wedding’s” bedroom. I don’t know what we’ll do with it after it’s over.

I had to clear out the dining room in order to serve dinner for Thanksgiving. So for the moment everything is boxed in the basement but now that the holidays are over it’s GAME ON!

I have boxes piling up as well! A box for each detail so there is an invitation box, centerpiece box, ceremony box, etc. We haven’t even started with the big items for each detail yet!
p.s. - I am in love with those lights! If you end up selling them before May, let me know :)

We’re in the same boat as Frozen Yogurt. The wedding now has it’s own bedroom…

I went to Target last night in an effort to find some cafe lights but I could only find one box of G40s and they were frosted, not clear. I felt like such a nitwit that I hadn’t started looking earlier. But I was able to find some awesome Christmas stuff I’ll use at my wedding.

Oh my gosh, I think my old bedroom at my parents’ house is even worse! It’s ridiculous how much stuff I’ve collected. And we still have till June!

So far, the wedding stuff is confined to the office closet. Luckily I had kept some paper ream boxes (perfect for moving books) after our last move. They are now the home to all my *stuff*. But, that space will only last so long, and I have 8 months to go!

I’ve been trying to stuff as much as I can in my closest since we really don’t have any storage space left, but my parents and Mr. N’s mom’s houses are holding the overflow. Yea to parents with extra room!

Funny, my mothers house is about a half hour from our venue and my apartment is about 15 hours away. So, my old bedroom that was turned into a football room when I moved out looks a lot like your old room. When I buy something online I have it shipped there and my mom opens it, takes pictures, and sends them to me to approve. When I visit about once every other month I take a bag of wedding stuff with me. Thank goodness for mothers!

Ha! I had been piling all my wedding crap in a corner of our living room but yesterday while I was at work Mr. GP decided to ‘clean’ the living room, which really just involved moving all my wedding stuff to the upstairs office! :D I suppose it’s fair, other people shouldn’t have to stare at paper bags, stamps, tea lights, etc when they come to visit! Wish I could store stuff at my parents house….

OMG leading up to our wedding, I felt like our entire APARTMENT had been eaten up by wedding stuff.

It was taking over big time, but I finally packed some of it away in our guest room so we could actually eat at our dinner table if we needed.

I have a 2 bedroom apartment. And one of those bedrooms is currently empty, but I don’t think that will be the case for much longer at all!

I am currently renting from my friends. FI and decided I will have to move out about a month or two before because we are going to start to have a lot wedding clutter.
