Mrs. Pug, New York City/Half Moon Bay, CAAge and Occupation: 33, LawyerFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, dittoEngagement Date: July 2008Wedding Date: March 2010Venue: Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon BayAbout Me: The Mr. and I are two 30-somethings who enjoy tasty sweets of all kinds, our neighborhood wine store, and cuddling with our pug. NYC is where we live and the city we love, but we’re doing the deed out in Northern California. We are trying to keep the affair small, intimate, and manageable. Our motto is: the less people, the better! (I’m kidding.)
Some of you may scoff in disdain at this post. Don’t comment. Really. Because I will flood you with nasty private messages, find out where you live and… oh wait, too far? Amongst our family members, we have four pugs. I’m sure most of you pet owners out there will understand when I say that these pugs are family to us. Before I got my pug I kind of laughed at how obsessed people were with their pets—I have now happily and shamelessly joined their ranks. For a while I made her food from scratch, we bring her on trips, and we have multiple coats, rain coats, winter booties, and a Halloween costume for her (not that you need these things to be a true pet lover, I am just lame that way). Here the victims of our adoration.

While they won’t be walking down an aisle, because that would pretty much turn into a furious hunt for treats, we wanted them to have a little pizazz for pre-ceremony photos.
I looked on Etsy and found these flowered dog collars made by Pecan Pie Puppies. They are about $20-24. Read more…
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/VermontAge and Occupation: 26, High School TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer EngineerEngagement Date: August 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall ReceptionAbout Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
In my last post, I talked about the good things that can sometimes come with a long distance relationship. Now, I am going to talk about the worst: spending the holidays apart.
Mr. Pudding and I have always spent the holidays far away from each other. Even during our years at college, he would go home to Vermont for the holidays, and I would go to Toronto. We would exchange excited phone calls and emails about family events, and send pictures of us opening presents and celebrating Wigilia. We were always extremely sad at the fact that we were unable to share these moments together.
This year, Mr. Pudding and I will spend Christmas together for the very first time. We have dreamed of our first Christmas together for such a long time that I feel like my heart should be bursting with joy.
It’s not. For the last couple of days I have been very sad about the fact that I will not spend Christmas with my family. I have been missing my Mama, and Sister Pudding, and Tata Pudding, and even Brother Pudding (who’s studying overseas and won’t be home for Christmas either). I’m terribly sad about all of the family traditions that I will be missing, like Mama Pudding making Sister P and me bake terrible sugar cookie men, that often end up missing a leg, or an arm, or a head. I miss our plastic Christmas tree with lots and lots of silver tinsel. I miss the fact that the Christmas season meant that the whole family would be dressed to the nines all day, and we had to go to church practically every day for a week. Read more…

An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. He and I grew up next door to each other and because of it, we have the best home videos and easiest holiday dinners. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
I had my first alterations appointment yesterday at David’s, so we hit the road and drove up to the store in the ‘burbs where I had bought my dress…
You can’t see it, but I have a big smile on my face ’cause I’m always happy when I’m with my dress. So we went in and got started.

I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
Every year it’s a tradition in my family for all the ladies to get together the weekend after Thanksgiving for a tea party at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco.
Lovely as it is, it’s pretty expensive at about $45 per person with tip, and we always leave hungry, since the bite size little sandwiches just don’t fill you up, and the service is pretty slow to refill your teapots.
So this year we decided to have it at my parents’ home! And I wanted to share it with you all, since this could also make for a nice (if very tame) idea for a bridal shower. Read more…

Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PAAge and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentEngagement Date: June 28, 2008Wedding Date: March 2010Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel ReceptionAbout Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
Lighting is something that most wedding gurus say is absolutely essential for an event. For me, it was just something I never figured would fit into our day. I assumed it was ridiculously expensive, that our parents wouldn’t go for it, and that our venue probably couldn’t accommodate it.
Ms. Potato Chips, Boston/Narragansett RIAge and Occupation: 29, PhD StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy AssistantEngagement Date: January 1, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: The Narragansett TowersAbout Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
Sharing holidays stinks! There, I said it! You know it’s true!
And that is why, in the six years we’ve been together, we’ve never shared a holiday. Typically on Christmas Eve day, we kiss goodbye and wish each other adieu, and he drives down to Rhode Island to hang out with his parents and I drive to the next town over to hang out with my parents and SistahChips.
On Christmas Eve, my family does an Iron Chef-esque cooking competition with a special featured ingredient (this year: apples!). Then we play board games. MamaChips (weekly church-goer) begs out of the midnight mass by sending my sister and me (biyearly church goers) in her stead (“Tell God I got too tired!”). SistahChips and I sleep in our childhood rooms, Santa Claus wakes our lazy butts up around 9:30AM, and we sit on the floor in our jammies and unwrap presents. That’s Christmas. And I’m fiercely protective of it.
Except… oh crap, I’m getting married. New traditions with our family of two and all that. Booooo. It’ll be great.
Although we’ve always spent the holidays apart, Mr. Potato Head and I already have a few small traditions for the days leading up to Christmas. They include:
Mrs. Spaniel, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 28, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, PsychologistWedding Date: March 2010Venue: Calamigos RanchAbout Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
Our current wedding-related mission is to find the “perfect” ketubah. That means two things: finding the artwork we like, and then hoping that it either comes with the text we like as an option or that it can otherwise be customized. The original orthodox text is actually written in Aramaic and transliterated into Hebrew (no English appears on the document), and is only signed by the witnesses and the rabbi—not the bride or groom.
On __________ [day of the week], the __________ day of the month __________ in the year __________ since creation of the world, the era according to which we are accustomed to reckon here in the city of __________ how __________ son of __________ said to this virgin __________ daughter of __________ ’Be thou my wife according to the law of Moses and Israel, and I will work for thee, honor, support, and maintain thee in accordance with the custom of Jewish husbands who work for their wives, honor, support, and maintain them in truth. And I will set aside for thee 200 zuz [traditional money], in lieu of thy virginity, which belong to thee (according to the law of Moses), and thy food, clothing, and necessaries, and live with thee in conjugal relations according to universal custom.’
Mrs. Ramen, PhoenixAge and Occupation: 26, Optometry StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Industrial DesignerEngagement Date: January 3, 2009Wedding Date: December 19, 2009Venue: Phoenix Art MuseumAbout Me: I'm an SF-born, Seattle-raised girl, transplanted to Phoenix where I'll be getting married, and planning all the way from Orange County where I go to school (yes, it feels as crazy as it sounds). I loooooove Yogurtland, am slightly very obsessed with all things paper, am heavily addicted to wedding blogs, deeply desire a puppy, thoroughly enjoy cooking, cry when I watch (almost all) movies, thrive on solo car-karaoke, can't stop being sarcastic, am neurotic about taking pictures of almost everything I eat before I eat it, and aspire to travel the world. My super-talented fiance and I are attempting to DIY a majority of our massive (~350 guests) "clean & modern, yet romantic, but completely unexpected, with a teeny dash of vintage" wedding, stay within our not-so-massive budget, and somehow get a really luxe (but still fun!) look/feel at the same time. In music terms (since we're both really into music) think Coldplay meets Motown meets Kanye meets Sinatra.
I made it through my torturous week of school, survived the last minute insanity of wedding prep, got prettified, got some new bling, danced my little heart out - and am now basking in the after-glow of the Ramen wedding. When I saw all of the decorations being put up at the Phoenix Art Museum, all I could think about was that it was ALL worth it - the stress, craziness, breakouts, emotional roller coasters, tears, sweat, worry… every last second of wedding planning in the past 11 months was well worth it. Mrs. Guinea Pig, Baltimore, MD Age and Occupation: 26, PhD student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Operations Director at a non-profit Engagement Date: December 25, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club About Me: I'm a tomboy science nerd whose girly side has made a startling appearance thanks to wedding planning! I love to bake, knit and sew but I also ride a motorcycle (that Mr. Guinea Pig wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole). We live with our three crazy cats and love to read, travel, watch movies, and do home improvement projects together! My parents/family are Canadian but I'm definitely American, although I've lived in 5 different countries, 6 different states, and speak Russian fluently. Mr. GP and I met online (did I mention I'm a scientist?) and had a whirlwind romance - now we can't wait to get married & celebrate with all our friends and family in a blue and yellow waterfront affair!
While I’m on a roll making dress decisions, let’s talk about how I’m playing dress up with my friends! As I’ve mentioned before, I’d like my bridesmaids to be in dresses that are the same color, but in whatever style they like best. I’d like to avoid the matchy matchy maids, and just have… matchy maids! The problem was, I approached this from a specific color point of view. I had no shortage of dress lines I liked but none of them had that ’perfect’ blue. Here are the front-runners that almost made it across the finish line as I grew more frustrated with finding the blue I seemed to have had created in my imagination!

I kid you not, I liked every single dress in this line. I want them all. Read more…

I love great art, fabulous design, intense color, tons of music, indie photography, watching movies on repeat, and being really awesome. This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
Something that has surprised me, and continues to surprise me is how freaking difficult making a guest list is. I thought it would be a 3-hour session, everybody sitting around a table a la Father of the Bride, and we’d be finished. (Damn that movie.) It didn’t even occur to me that we would be working on it for at least 3 months. It’s still even in the really, really, really, really raw stages. Not getting down to the “Who lives where, with whom, etc.” stuff. Not even to the plus-one issue. I even have a folder dedicated to the guest list on my desktop. That’s just sad. Read more…

I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
After being asked to design a wedding inspiration board based around a Christmas ornament, I immediately turned to Anthropologie. They have an eclectic assortment of ornaments (that I constantly covet) and I knew I’d be inspired. I sorted through the various deer, owls, mushrooms, and stars and settled on a carnival ornament that reminds me of all things Moroccan, gypsy, hippie, and whimsical: The One-of-a-Kind Carnival Bird.
I liked the idea of a wedding decorated in saturated jewel-toned colors, which this ornament makes me think of (even though it’s grey). So, I went to Polyvore and tried my best. Read more…

When it came time to choose who we wanted at the wedding, initially we planned on just those that we are closest to (we actually made this decision before we were officially engaged). We thought about inviting a few friends along, but then it turned into “Well, if I invite this person, then I also have to invite x, y, and z”, and at that rate our list could have ended up a mile long! We both agreed to a small group, family only, and thought it would be easiest that way to organize the trip. So at this point, our list looked like this… Read more…

It’s time to show you my first ever Etsy purchase, from the fabulous seller Luxe Deluxe. Check out their store for some seriously jeweled eye candy.
Working with this seller was extremely easy. I first inquired about some great looking earrings in their store, to see if a matching bracelet and necklace existed (most of the jewelry in their store has matching pieces). The earrings had just the right balance of bling and pearls that I was looking for to go with the details on my dress.
