You know that crazy time during adolescence when your skin develops a T-Zone and becomes completely unpredictable? No? I’m sure it can’t just be me. Well, I apparently haven’t yet outgrown that phase. While I’ve been told that this means wrinkles will be longer in coming (thanks, Mom), I do worry about the dreaded shine on our wedding day.
Possibly warm May weather + my propensity to shine + a duchess satin wedding gown = my need for a proactive battle against *too* glowy (read: oily, sweaty) skin and makeup meltdown. Within my arsenal:
My hair and makeup artist, Sissi Chan, first introduced me to Model in a Bottle. The name still cracks me up, but it really helped my makeup stay on all day after my trial (through 40 degree wind and rain). Just a little spritz-spritz after your makeup is done, and you’re good to go.
Lancome Pure Focus T-Zone Matifier
I’ve been using the Lancome Matifier for a few years now. The best thing about this product is that you can apply it both before and after you do your makeup without messing anything up. It has an interesting gel-to-powder consistency that immediately mattifies your skin. It is clear and easy to apply; you don’t even need a mirror for touch-ups.
Shiseido Oil Control Blotting Papers
I always keep a packet of Shiseido blotting papers in my bag. They’re good for routine shine control during the day.
Other tactics I will be employing:
1. Turning down the AC
Whenever I stay at hotels, I like to turn the thermostat down to a level slightly above bone-chilling - much to the chagrin of the mans (he does hail from a tropical climate, after all). I’m a person who would much rather be too cold than too hot. You can always add layers, but there’s only so much nekkid you can become - and let’s face it, nudity is not always a viable option.
2. Water
An ice-cold bottle of water will definitely fend off any latent sweaty-bettys. However, I haven’t yet reconciled this with the fact that using a restroom in a wedding dress will be a tad challenging. Hmm - I’ll need to think about this one.
Might you be facing extreme hot or cold on your wedding day? How are you preparing for it?
