About Mrs. Nachos

The Mane Event

January 3rd, 2010 @ 1:05 pm by Mrs. Nachos

I’ve been thinking here and there about how I want my hair styled for the wedding. Let me try to explain what I see in my head so we’re all on the same page…

Close your eyes and picture this (OK, don’t close your eyes or you won’t be able to follow along, hehe)…

… family and friends sitting in their sun dresses, khakis and sandals, the sun is setting over the water, pings from the steel pan float through the air, mixed softly with the sounds of waves in the background, and a warm salty breeze is brushing lightly across everyone’s cheeks. Mmm.

Now picture me walking down the aisle with my dad, holding in the tears so I don’t bawl like a baby as I am well-known for, wearing my gorgeous light-as-air dress and white flippy floppies, tropical bouquet in hand, fingertip veil blowing softly behind me.

K, got all that? I know, I want to be there now!!

Now, what do you picture my hair to look like peeking out from under the light layer of tulle fastened to my noggin?

These are some of the pictures I’ve saved for some inspiration over the last 6 months. And remember, I’m wearing my veil on top.

I really like this one a lot…

I like this next one because the flower is closer in size to the to the one that I have, and I generally wear my hair in a low messy bun…

This next one is similar to the top pics, but I have long side-swept bangs that I would have sweeping across my forehead. And I like how the veil looks underneath the hair, but I’m still thinking I’m wearing it above my hair, which would be do-able with this style set a little lower…

This next one is so soft looking and screams beach wedding hair to me. I’d be doing a side part though, and I think it’d be easy to tuck my flowers in the side…

I’ve also thrown around the idea of doing a half-up style…

…but my hair is naturally wavy/curly/frizzy in humidity, so I’m not sure if it would cooperate in the tropics. I’d hate to get to the end of the aisle and look like a frizzy poodle. :)

Aside from me being a stylist, my sister and friend that will both be with me for the wedding are also stylists, so I’m thinking we’ll be able to figure it out. I plan on doing a hair trial or two in the next month or so with them, so I guess we’ll see what works best. I’m leaning towards the second group of pics, but which do you all see in my, er, your vision?

I really like the second one and the one on Eva Longoria. Apparently, I like low, messy buns!

I like the 2nd and 4th ones the best, too. I’m a big fan of the low, messy buns!!

I think I agree, the low bun, or the Eva!

I think the low bun with the flower would look beautiful on you. Especially since you are going to be wearing a veil.

There is something very romantic about the low bun style. Regardless of what style you choose I’m sure you will look beautiful.

I vote half up half down! Your hair and mine is about the same length and it will be gorgeous with it blowing in the island breeze gently! Check out some of maggie sotter’s brides on her site. They have always some beautiful half up/half down styles.

Cheers to the beach brides! Your venue is beautiful!

I vote for the Eva Longoria too! :) I want to be at your venue right now - it’s been so cold and dreary recently that I can’t even remember what it was like during the summer!

I was going to say second pic, then I saw EVA!! that looks gorgeous! Can get windy so half up half down might be blowing around too much

I really like the 2nd style and the one Eva is wearing… I think they are both beautiful but still relaxed which is good for your venue :)

I like the Eva one the best! It’s sweet and romantic and yet easy and elegant.

The low messy bun and Eva’s are the best. The first hairstyle seems way too overdone for a beach wedding.

It’s seems I’m in the majority with either the low messy bun (#2) or the Eva. Both of which are pretty similar in feel to me. I think they’ll both go great with a beach wedding too!

If you are wearing your “flippy floppies” :) down the aisle, when are you going to wear your James Ciccotti’s? At the reception? (Btw, if that is your venue, it looks amazing.) I vote low bun, or the Eva Longoria or Jessica Alba style-I’m not much one for bridal-y hair-dos

Sorry Halle Berry (the back of the head shot), NOT Jessica Alba-her hair isn’t very styled, but for a beach affair maybe??

The second updo or Eva (updo)!! I definitely envision an updo (won’t it be hot!?), but you’ll look gorgeous either way!!

When I read your intro, I definitely pictured your hair down or half-up, half-down, which I think would be beautiful with curly/wavy hair… If you decide to go with it all up, then I vote for the 2nd style, fo sho…

@eileen marie: Yeah, the James Ciccotti’s are coming out for the home party, and to wear with the party dress after the ceremony. They were too tall for my dress and made me look like I was ready for a flood. Sad face.
