Hive, do me a favor and play this song while you read this post. It’s the song that played during our bridal party processional and I think it really helped set the mood we were going for:
Thank you, Amy Seeley…
And so we had an “audience” full of our nearest and dearest friends and family, who were all gathered there in this edgy little Lower East Side theater, waiting to see us get hitched.
We had an officiant, a groom, and a best man, waiting patiently at the end of that aisle…
The rest of the boys were joking around and waiting to escort their lovely ladies:
And a gorgeous set of women who looked a little nervous. You’ll be great, ladies….
This is the last of many, many times that I’ve walked into a theater as a single lady:
New York and (and life in general) is all about stark contrasts — the beautiful and the ugly all co-existing, a gorgeous gown up against hot pink graffiti:
My best friend in the entire world gives my gown’s many under layers one last fluff, post-taxi:
Despite my many months of fearing I would be nervous and anxious, I was calm and ready:
Amy Seeley started to play and some of the most important people in our lives walked before us. My usually loud and vivacious friend Sassy Bridesmaid linked arms with Brother Star and both took their roles very seriously:
It was wonderful to share the experience with some of our closest college friends, too…
And it was very special to us that everyone walked with someone they cared about. Fairy Bridesmaid and Opera Groomsman were no exception. This married lady already had some practice being calm walking down a wedding aisle.
Mister Star’s Brother and Boston Bridesmaid were also very serious. Did someone prep the groomsmen by telling them not to smile under any circumstances, whatsoever? Maybe they were just afraid of messing up?
And gorgeous MOH Star, who has been there alongside me either in body or spirit through every up and down for the past decade, got the honor of her very own moment in the spotlight:
With some coaxing from Mr. Star in the form of a few whistles…
Doggy Star, our ring bearer, made it down the aisle (with a few stops to sniff a guest or two, of course!), and Mr. Star’s youngest brother escorted him to his VIP seat in the front row:
There was only one little lady to go before my entrance, and my sister was fabulous and walked perfectly slowly (remember how she practiced walking slowly at the rehearsal?). She carried my stuffed bunny who protected me throughout my childhood — and even matched our color scheme, haha! — instead of flowers, because I liked the personal touch Bunny brought to the scenario.

Momma Star gave her a little guidance as to where she needed to end up onstage and she was good to go. Have you ever seen such a glamorous little flower girl?
Please excuse me while I wipe the tears out of the corners of my eyes. I still get choked up listening to music from our wedding ceremony, which I think is a very, very special feeling.
Next up, here comes the bride!
