I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. Bedroom Eyes

January 4th, 2010 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Remember when I talked about wanting to get eyelash extensions? Well, I did it! I pretty much find any excuse to wear fake eyelashes. It’s New Year’s Eve? I think I need some lashes. What’s that you say, it’s Halloween and I’m dressing up as Sookie Stackhouse, who isn’t really known for her long eyelashes? Hmm…oh well, I think I might need some lashes, anyway. So my wedding day will be no different. Only this time, instead of stumbling through the application of the lashes, I will have them in place well in advance.

Here’s a breakdown of my experience (feel free to scroll down to the pictures, I know you want to):

The place I went was pretty pricey (typically $299 for a new set), BUT they were having a special of $99 for a new set, so I jumped on it. The whole thing was very relaxing, and the girl applying my eyelashes said that a lot of women fall asleep during the process. I didn’t fall asleep, but I could see how someone might. Here’s the bad part though-it took 2 HOURS. That’s a really long time to lie down while someone is messing with your eyes. Although, I don’t know if all places take 2 hours, but mine did. The good news is that when you go for fills it only takes an hour and the price is significantly reduced to $60. And even better news?

I LOVE them. I know some girls say they itch or they’re bothersome, and although I feel somewhat like Mr. Snuffleupagus, the main thing that’s distracting is that I feel totally vain because I can’t stop looking in the mirror at them.

So, are you ready to see them?

So, are you going to go for eyelash extensions?

Fro Yo they look fabulous! I am so jealous! Now I have to look into this… any suggestions on finding a reputable salon if my usual one doesn’t do them?

Wow - they look amazing! And totally natural (well, looks like you naturally have really long, gorgeous lashes). Kinda tempted to try this now…

My sister-in-law did this and LOVED them. I would consider it - but not for $299. I think they would have to come down in price significantly!

@Miss Guinea Pig: I searched the internet and found some salons that had great reviews before I headed out, and then once I saw that a highly suggested salon was also running a special, I jumped on it.
@Terra: You have to get them refilled every 3 weeks.
@His Barista: Um yes, both after pics. I took a before and wanted to cry, so I wasn’t about to show it.
@moderndaisy: You can get them done a couple days before. I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t allergic to anything. Also, they can change the thickness and length, so now I can go back next time and tell them that I want them thicker and longer. :)
@Mdallas: No, this was in Austin, but I know there are lots of places in Dallas that do them too.

I would LOVE a reason to get these! $99 sounds like a great deal… if that is what it would cost normally I’d consider getting them for a special occasion!!!
