Our engagement photos are here!! If you remember, first I questioned whether we should have an engagement photo session, then my sister surprised me with one for my birthday, then of course I had to figure out what to wear, which was an issue all unto itself!
Finally, this series (saga?) is coming to an end! When I was in California for Thanksgiving, it all came together and we actually had our photo session with Sherman Chu! I had been debating where to take the photos, but luckily Sherman knew just the place, and the nature backdrop was perfect! At first, Mr. Guinea Pig and I were a little uncomfortable since neither of us has ever been in front of the camera like this. We took a couple of suuuper posed shots to help get warmed up*:
(perfect for our non-existent newspaper announcement)
(Why yes I always relax with my hand on his shoulder)
Luckily our paralyzing fear slowly disappeared and we started acting like our normal, silly selves with each other. Or at least, I was silly as usual. Mr. Guinea Pig humored me, also as usual.
(I may look graceful, but 0.5 seconds after this photo I almost fell flat on my face)
(I was trying to push Mr. GP over at this point)
(so he stepped away and made me tip over)
(Not a bad job masking my terror at this move, if I do say so myself)
And much like Miss Nachos said, don’t listen to your photographer if they tell you to make an angry face. I shouldn’t have listened when he said to act serious. I just looked completely confused/vacant!
(This picture cracks me up SO MUCH)
(Thankfully our serious faces didn’t last long because I couldn’t stop laughing while attempting my ’serious face’)
(Gotta get in a few smooches)
And now for one of my favorite shots - there is a whole series with Mr. Guinea Pig carrying me that I absolutely love, but I won’t bore you with the extra 10 photos (all of which I also love) and I’ll just show you my favorite of the bunch:
(Since I never let Mr. GP carry me, he was feeling pretty pleased with himself! I love the lighting on our faces!)
(We sat on a bench and cuddled with no one around, just Mr. GP and me… and Sherman)
(We went for a stroll under trees with beautiful light)
(And last but not least, we huddled for warmth)
There are so many more photos that I absolutely love from our engagement photo session, but I will spare you 100 gratuitous photos of the Guinea Pigs.
We had such a blast, the lighting and weather were perfect (especially for the last day of November!), and Sherman was absolutely amazing. He’s so very friendly, made us feel relaxed, and kept telling us we were naturals (thanks for lying, Sherman!) which made us laugh and feel more comfortable. I definitely recommend him! And as soon as my parents saw the photos they wanted him to photograph our wedding, ha (oh crap, I haven’t told you about our actual wedding photographer…). Even Mr. Guinea Pig was won over and pleased we had taken these photos! I will admit that a part of me wishes we had done something edgier with awesome post-processing (a la Scissors), but there’s always anniversaries!!
Now, to find something to do with them. All this time I really wanted an engagement photo session, but here we have these great photos and I’m at a loss for what to do with all of them! Guestbook? Table numbers? It seems so weird to me to print out an entire book of photos of just Mr. GP and me, that I’m not sure I could do it. Any other suggestions?
Did you have an engagement photo session? What did you do with your photos?
*A couple of the photos have post-processing done by me, mostly just some cropping.
